Brian May often mentions Munich in interviews as a time when things went wrong for all 4 members of the band without spelling things out and it is picked up several books. Does anyone know of the incidents he is referring to?
What took him there:
The need to get away from those that would write headlines such as "Is This Man A Prat?" in respected music papers.
(Also, possibly, Brian's insistence on covering everything in multi-layered guitar.)
Freddie's love for various shapes, sizes and girths of leather-clad "Wurst" and the good old Stoly and Columbian marching powder.
What it did:
Took him away from the band's spiritual London base.
'Absentia' diminished his ability to function as he had done up to that point as a member of Queen and friend to Brian, Roger and John.
Gave him HIV and caused his death.
Cracking decision, eh...........?

Fred probably had HIV already way before the Munich years...
