Like a lot of RT's solo stuff, this is what I imagine Richard The Hamster Hammond would sound like if he made music. |
| SweetCaroline 01.04.2019 15:55 |
I love it and Roger sounds great! |

From his forthcoming album......... Tom PS: I do lik this, thanks Vali |

At first I thought this was an April Fool trick and was about to congratulate the topic starter for such a good job sampling different songs, but it's real! And, sadly, a poor effort by Roger. Terrible lyrics as usual, but it's all so monotonal. There's nothing to raise the song above the average, despite it reusing the percussion from Days of Our Lives and the piano from Journey's End. |
| Banawig 01.04.2019 17:47 |
Oh dear, love Roger, however it just sounds like a rejected track from “Happiness.” Also the “video”? He’s a millionaire. It’s like a PowerPoint presentation. *face palm* could you imagine Freddie sacrificing such artistic quality? That said, I love Brian’s New Horizons. |
| princetom 01.04.2019 19:01 |
a statement. not an unimpotant issue as you may see. yes. sounds like a rejected track of "happiness?" (one of my favourite albums, btw.) it seems like roger. sounds like him. welcome! get it folks... there ain't no john lennon anymore. roger's not one of HIS kind... but from time to time he seems to offer his thoughts about ... political things. in a very listenable way. for me it's welcome. |
| Nick Browning 01.04.2019 19:24 |
song is ok, video is terrible, it's obviously a political song (most likely in relation to brexit). |

I like most of Roger's songs, including this one, but it does sound as if he's writing the same song over and over again. Just needs that small bit of sheen to rise above mediocrity. |

hahahahaha..poor rog..iisn't anybody out there...who wants to tell him that he curtain things better can't do? please protect this old man befor he completely gets nuts /// ..holly couldn't say it better |
| emrabt 01.04.2019 22:03 |
Roger Taylor has got into a similar situation as Roger Waters, recycling what worked before.... again. |
| fruhzs 01.04.2019 22:26 |
I didn’t think it’s that bad. It’s nothing super special, but that shouldn’t be expected in my opinion, specially at this stage. But it’s a simple good song imo. The words chosen for the title and the main line are a bit so so for my taste. It could potentially be better just changing the lyrics for it a little bit, something less corny (although also super cliche and obvious) such as “it’s so hard to live in this World” would seem a bit better for my taste and fit the overall lyricis and theme of the song. |
| stevelondon20 02.04.2019 06:33 |
Hope this leads to an Album. Love it. |
| Dougie 4 02.04.2019 06:59 |
The song is nothing great to be honest...not sung well either, quite monotonal. But hopefully he has better offerings in his upcoming album. Also, video could be more imaginative |
| dysan 02.04.2019 07:04 |
Its just a lyric video isn't it. No biggie. He'll do another soon enough of him in black and white looking out to sea telling us that politicians are bad. |
| bucsateflon 02.04.2019 07:10 |
look at all these fucking "experts" here... |

It is called having an opinion...all sentient human beings have one |

Yes, it sounds like lost Happiness track.. Actually, the melody of line "gansters are running this world" resembles the line "Sometimetimes the last thing you wanna know is the truth" from The Key in that album. Maybe not quite self-plaguarism but similar, imo. |
| dudeofqueen 02.04.2019 08:32 |
The first 4 months of 2019 are proof positive that, without the gravy train that is Queen, Roger and Brian are utterly finished as creative artists. |

I like the "I wanna fly on the wings of love" section, specially the vocals. I don't mind the video quality. It is just a lyric video and many artists do it these days. Better this than a black screen with white lyrics. And I thank the fact that Roger keeps writing and recording music. I believed "Journey's End" would mark an end, indeed. Wish Brian would 've done the same instead of spending his time with the boring-to-death Kerry Ellis. |

Think Rog is looking back with some mixed emotions. He's spitting on the world were he is part off. His music from da past, it was for me THe thing to become my hero, i adored him. His out of the box queen thinga, do what you want...!! His Punky style of making musix, after that the amazing Space and Frontier albums....That was the man who;s music i loved to hear. Shit was on the move with his imbecile Blue Rock, Mad bad and so on....the worthless Cross project .... Sorry mr Taylor, ....you are screaming like a baby, like an overdosed all mad bad and dangreous man, commentary and anti nazi songs,, screaming how bad the world so called seems to be. Why didnt you go into the politics with your big mouth? You could have sing about the bad and mean politics , could sing it right into their face... join politics please or shut tha fuck up!! |

@dudeofqueen Dont need to know the first 4 months of the 2019 to know this as for track it very bland.. |
| Stick 02.04.2019 14:58 |
@Buttlicker what is your problem man? You are overreacting to this new track so bad, did your family just die? Where does all of your hate and vitriol come from? It's just a song man. Chill the fuck out. There is something really wrong with if you think this is a normal reaction. By the way, I like the song. I like Roger singing about his frustration with politics because why not? The more people talk, the more chance there is of change for the better. |

Great stuff! I am just so happy that Roger still enjoy making music. I wish Brian May was more as productive and interested in creating new songs as Roger the last 25 years. They could have made some good things together I think. I just have to shake my head when people complain about his singing, songwriting etc. The guy is almost 70 years old. I am actually impressed that he is still hanging in there doing the thing he loves. I give him major thumbs up for having another go at a solo album! |
| Another Roger (re) 02.04.2019 18:29 |
The track currently has 15000 likes and 150 dislikes. Not a bad ratio that. |
| dysan 02.04.2019 18:42 |
Bo Bap won some Oscars. You do the math. |
| cmsdrums 02.04.2019 18:57 |
Very reminiscent melody lines in places to (the also Roger penned) track ‘The Also Rans’ from ‘Blue Rock by The Cross. |
| Stelios 02.04.2019 19:46 |
As spoted above reminds me too of The Key ,mixed with Old Friends orchestration, from the Happiness? album. Its fine but nothing special. |
| Makka 03.04.2019 02:25 |
I prefer Roger's earlier solo outings more than his later ones. I just don't like a lot of his lyric writing these days. But, it is great to see he is still putting out music and still enjoys it. |

Holly2003 wrote: There's nothing to raise the song above the average, despite it reusing the percussion from Days of Our Lives and the piano from Journey's End.And the melody of Old Friends. Like it or not - Roger has a sound. It's his sound. And in his ripe old age he's like 99% of the old rock stars who are derivative of themselves. Most of these guys aren't reinventing the wheel anymore. They're just making music because they can't do much else. Not everyone is Zappa or David Byrne. I like the song. The middle 8 is actually pretty marvellous. But I'm not in a big rush to hear it again. |
| aristide1 05.04.2019 10:55 |
Roger's "too many mutherfuckers fucking with my shit" hip hop message does not fit with his (only) AOR song. |
| Jeremy 06.04.2019 04:30 |
It's musically good but the lyrics don't make sense, not that they have to. |
| Vali 08.04.2019 10:06 |
The song is available for download, with an additional rock version (called "Purple Version"). Not downloaded yet, but the preview I heard for this "Purple Version" sounds interesting and like it was a completely different song. |

Jeremy wrote: It's musically good but the lyrics don't make sense, not that they have to.The fact that you don't "get" the lyrics doesn't mean they "don't make sense". I think they make perfect sense. |

The Purple Version is basically a chunker different song with the same title. First real rocker type Rog has done in awhile. I'll need a few listens... But I liked it on first listen! |
| dysan 08.04.2019 13:40 |
I'd probably be more interested in this rockier version tbh |
| Vali 08.04.2019 18:03 |
Downloaded both tracks and must say I like the Purple Version a lot. It’s a completely different song. Short, it runs two minutes and a half, but very original. Great guitars & keys |
| Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 08.04.2019 20:43 |
Good old Roger rocking Taylor!!! |
| Invisible Woman 09.04.2019 06:39 |
I finally listened yesterday. It's not so great but is pretty good. It sounds to me a little bit like songs Heaven For Everyone and These Are The Days Of Our Lives. |
| dysan 09.04.2019 08:20 |
Except with all the peripheral emotion of those tracks removed right? Lets face it, there's nothing much left without the context of those songs. |
| Negative Creep 12.04.2019 20:29 |
Great to see Roger doing more solo stuff, even if his last album was subpar. I think it's funny though that the original version sounds like a Happiness cast off and the "Purple" version sounds like Old Men (Lay Down). |
