Love Def Leppard and Joe Elliot frequently says Queen are the greatest rock band ever so Brian is the right man for the job. I can understand the HOF's snobbery towards them, having defiantly 80's sounding records can make some people feel rather uncomfortable.
“DrBrianMay My favourite ‘polaroid’ from last night. The Def Leppard boys presented me with this fabulous painting of a hero of mine -just before I made my speech inducting them into the Rock and… “ link
It's probably just a coincidence that Brian likes those bands and artists who have expressed their love for Queen (Foos, Def Lep, Kiss, Extreme etc) and never talks about those who haven't (everyone from Oasis to the Rolling Stones).
Never been a fan of DL but out of curiosity tried to find the FM Tribute performance with the technical hitches before they started (samples triggering all over the place IIRC?) and interestingly RT introduced them onstage that day.

Hey bro listen to High and dry, bringing on the heartbreak, switch 625,, another hit and run and overture to get you into the original Deff Leopard heavy metal sound
Oh and sorrow is a woman is another great song.
So all of above except overture is from High and Dry album and overture and sorrow is a woman from their debut album on through the night
Certainly interesting to hear them in that context. Funny how much the Manics nicked off them. Or at least, they both nicked the same NY Dolls riffs.
Listening to that reminded me how much I used to listen to my one Saxon tape back in the mid 80s.
Shot bro I got a bit confused as to whether you did or not!! WOW SAXON that's digging deep in to the realms of NWOHBM!! I started digging into that and Sanson when I got right into Iron Maiden!!!
