Hello I'm new to this forum. I found this at Deaky.net at the link below link
"Dawkins' Memoirs
Record producer/ record label chief Peter Dawkins' memoirs 'The Icecream Boy' is as much a glimpse into the corporate music world as his struggle against Parkinson's. Among some of the anecdotes:
* Queen's John Deacon and Roger Taylor arrived for a promo tour, and Deacon disappeared for two days in Sydney, rattled after taking mushrooms in Bali and convinced that Rupert Murdoch was spying on him through the hotel TV set. Queen's management and EMI America kept ringing EMI Oz with threats they'd better find their boy. "
Anyone know if this is true? The book does not appear to have been published in the UK only in Australia / New Zealand
The Mark Blake book states Deaky went Bali when they went back to Munich to finish the Works album (after doing most recording in LA). The promotional tour for The Works was done by Roger and John fairly soon after this I would have thought. (funny his 4th child was born in Dec 1983 - I thought he would have wanted to be at home rather than doing interviews!)
except he didn't and they weren't. There does tend to be a rule about pregnant women flying close to their due delivery dates.
My wife hated flying when she was pregnant it made her feel ill.
