Does it make a difference if the actor sings the songs? In Bo Rap, Rami doesn't, yet still gives a good performance, but in my view not as great as those listed below. But for some reason the Oscar panel didn't consult me and Rami's been nominated for an Oscar anyway.
In the new Elton John film the guy with the Game of Thrones name sings all the songs apparently, and from this clip he does really well: link
In other music biopics:
In The Doors, Val Kilmer sang some of the songs. No Oscar nomination
In Ray, Jamie Foxx lip syncs but its Ray Charles singing. Foxx won best actor Oscar.
In the Buddy Holly Story, Gary Busey sang everything. He was nominated for an Oscar but didn't win.
In Walk the Line, Joaquin Phoenix didn't sing. He was nominated for an Oscar but didn't win.
You know... I think everybody would have hated the movie, no matter whether Rami Malek or somebody else did the job. I am aware of some parts by Martel but that's not even close to substituting him for the whole movie.
I know you're talking about the awards, but I hate the very idea of not having Freddie sing his part.
IMO Rami was a better choice than SBC or Ben Whishaw. I like Dominic Cooper who sings but he doesn’t sound like Freddie. Marc sounds like Freddie but isn’t an actor. So, they did the best they could with a guy who was able to learn Freddie’s mannerisms and stage movements.

Malek will probably win the oscar as he is a non-white immigrant portraying a non-white immigrant. Hollywood's diversity boxes need ticking.
Since for much of the history of cinema white people dressed in blackface rather than employ blacks, or they pretended to be native Americans, or Asians, I would say having some diversity is a good thing. Equality's a bitch, isn't it...

No. What will lose him the Oscar is that while he pretty much nailed the 70s Freddie, even this guy looks more like 80s Freddie than Malek did.

Do you think he nailed 70s Freddie? Ever since I read that someone compared his look to Jagger's, that is what I think about.
Haha, xD.
Well, maybe "nailed" is too strong of an expression. He was good in many parts of the 70s in my opinion and the voice worked somewhat. But in the 80s he just looked like a little kid with a fake mustache. The part where "Freddie" walks into the gay dungeon is hysterical :D:D:D

It's a figure of speech. If I were to be pedantic I might point out that you have omitted three capital letters in your post, and, in any event, one of those sentences is incomplete. Here's how it should look:
You can't lose an Oscar, only win one.
Anyway, carry on telling me how to express myself and let's see how that goes :)

wasn't trying to blast you - i was trying to be funny. and to directly answer you... " :) " is incorrect in two forms - a) it should not be used to end a sentence... normally a period is used. and b) most smiley faces include a nose... i would have used :-).
and i generally don't waste my time with correct punctuation and grammar on queenzone - i say enough to get a point across. or rather to across someone else's point.
