Here's a chance to see it free in Hollywood this Feb. 16th.
be aware, its a FREE *RSVP ticket... Which doesn't necessarily (!) get you in. However, arrive early, wait a bit and you will likely get in.
I frequent the place, this will feature production guests and the sound editor.
I DO plan on going (single right now so the date doesn't signify much) soo... IF* they DO have Q&A (they do frequently at Egyptian screenings) an informed question could be a useful suggestion. Maybe it'll be recorded .
Just a heads up if you're in los angeles
Graham King (PRODUCER)
John Ottman (EDITOR) ...boy are there some questions for THIS GUY
Paul Massey (SOUND MIXER)
Will be present for a moderated talk (likely BEFORE the film as there is only one flick: on double features the panel usually begins in between films)
Unfortunately reading that it's MODERATED there's less likelihood of question and answer things happening. ..particularly since some might wish to bring up Bryan Singer (and why not, obviously? )
Still. ...since they do fantastic work there, AND since i said I'd never pay to see it again. .. i will be going. Any suggested questions by intrepid folks here would be appreciated. Short of getting to interview any of these guys, it'd be a good thing to settle concerns, thoughts etc.
There are modestly priced dives nearby (SNOW WHITES CAFE *a Disney production haunt from the 50's w $7 32oz domestics before 7), RUSTY MULLET, (modest beer prices) as well as a few classy joints (an Italian restaurant around the corner) ... trade turns in line and figure it out. I'll try to record the bit
I saw the first few minutes until Freddie (the guy with the roof tile shoved into his top lip) 'auditioned' for the band by singing 'Doing Alright' to Brian and Roger on the same night the Smile singer left (they were still sitting in the back of a van feeling really bad :-( )
I then felt dirty and set fire to the laptop I thieved the film from.
Honestly do not understand the hype of this film i mean its not the real band its actors for goodness sake and a cameo appearance from that American idol twat O.M.G !

So you don't understand that some people like to watch movies? All biopics are played by actors, are you saying they're all rubbish?
Rockchic The film is average but although Rami plays a good part he does look more like Mick Jagger in certain parts of the film.
and i cannot see why Adam Lambert was included in the film. Brian May is getting too soft in his old years letting Lambert get his beak in to everything Queen.
They could at least invited one of Freddie's friends to do the cameo like Peter Straker or even jim Beach!

I do agree he could easily play Mick Jagger with his look with the long hair. As to Adam no idea why that's a problem he was on screen for no more than 20 seconds and you've no idea if it was anything to do with Brian anyway. Even if it was he's been touring with them for the last six years and they are now very close so it would hardly be surprising. There were several cameo's in the movie not just Adam, John's son is in it, Brian's daughter as well, the film's editor has a cameo as does Brian & Roger, they put all sorts of little bits in like that.
As i said earlier so sad they had not invited any of Freddie's close friends to appear in the film.
Seems a little one sided to me and mainly on Brian's side as he calls the shots now.
Shoveit, Rami looked just like Jagger in the scene when they played Bohemian Rhapsody live while he wore the Harlequin suit. It was so weird. What's up with the blue eyes?
I fail to understand why Phoebe and Joe weren't included. He certainly didn't live in Garden Lodge alone switching on lights while looking sad.

Was Peter Freestone involved with the film at all? I had the feeling he was...?
As to why people such as Phoebe and Joe aren't in the film, the film is trying to imply that until he met and fell in love with Jim, there was a kind of loneliness Freddie felt - not all the time, but in terms of the depth and meaning beyond sexual satisfaction of his relationships and the existential hole filled within himself (or as yet not entirely filled) by his romantic partners.
Not saying Freddie was romantically unfulfilled or felt lonely in real life, but this is what the film is trying to say (using source material I imagine such as Living on my own and interviews from around that time as one example) and the literal truth would have distracted from this point.
I think there are many far worse examples of mistruths in the film and you may well feel this point is incorrect, but I just replied to suggest why this aspect is the way it is.
Spiral, they made it look like he was in a relationship with Paul for several years when in reality he had several long term relationships. Of course he wouldn't mention them in interviews. Joe and Phoebe were incredibly important to him and they should have been in the film.
Btw, Phoebe was on set and had a huge part in recreating Garden Lodge

Hi Sweet, neither the film or I am implying Freddie didn't have relationships! I was saying the film was trying to suggest Freddie was lonely in a different way than could be fulfilled by just having people around him such as Peter and Joe and that the relationships Freddie did have prior to Jim didn't fully fulfil him in every way. I don't say if that has any truth to it, I'm just suggesting why the film has him alone at Garden Lodge - to give the true feeling it wants the audience to feel its Freddie feeling.
The film didn't imply Freddie was in a (romantic or sexual) relationship with Paul at all as far as I saw it, but you're certainly right that it ignored all other long term relationships Freddie had. I was only really commenting to your question/comment about why Freddie was alone at Garden Lodge in the film though.
And thank you to you and pholidota. The reason I alluded to Phoebe being on set was you would have thought if he were very against how the film was, he might have at least not been there (or if he was there then only when absolutely necessary) even if he had no say in the content of the film either way.
