Just a fun question to get insight from people's opinions here. We DO have newbies and it'd be refreshing to get a take from old and new with this question: If you could be a "fly on the wall" for TWO album recording sessions, which would they be? Would it be ANATO as you watch as Brian meticulously records his parts for Good Company, Freddie compose BoRhap and deliver those scowling lines of DOTL? would you hob nob with the band in Munich and drink vodka tonics while doing blow, only to ask Roger. ... "do you REALLY think that should make the album?" ....the choices r yours. Short explanation for fun. MYSELF: Although I'd kill to hear FM doing the middle to TEO TORRIATE and WHITE MAN.. A NIGHT AT THE OPERA WINS. The playback, the takes, the decisions on DEATH ON TWO LEGS, the laughs (you're my best friend) the insanity of Prophets Song and composing changes for each bar. ...all that. And #2 I'd love to have seen and heard the MADE IN HEAVEN sessions. Not necessarily to see Freddie ill, but to hear the working versions of everything for the brief time when QUEEN was simply John and Roger |

The Miracle and Innuendo. I would so much like to have seen how they joined forces in the face of adversity. |

I'd choose Queen II because I love the album a lot, and Hot Space to see and hear Freddie and David duet. |

Although an honourable mention would be Queen II, to witness the excitement of them truly seeing their ideas come to fruition for the first time while they learn how to use the studio to its fullest. |

Hot Space, I think it's interesting to see how they recorded album that many fans don't like. The Miracle and Innuendo because I like those albums the most. And Freddie's Mr.Bad Guy. |

Sheer Heart Attack to see them really take off after Queen II. Hot Space to find out what the guys where up to at this stage, to see how they developed that new sound and to hear all the typical Queen songs they scrapped which Freddie mentioned an an interview and to see if really John is to blame. |

Hot Space. |

While I agree with much of what is above, too allow the discussion to progress past one page I'll pick The Works. To hear Queen play all those other tracks that were toyed with but never made the cut and then ended up as solo projects. Is there a Queen version of I dream of Christmas, Mr Bad Guy tracks, Strange Frontier, Let me live with Rod Stewart etc. Disclaimer: I know these would not all have happened in exactly the same session but I think they're approximately the same time. |

The De Lane Lee sessions is my first,Jazz would be my 2nd! |
DepeX 05.01.2019 13:05 |
A Night at the Opera and probably Innuendo. Queen II would be interesting as well. |

I'd like to see and hear Freddie playing his original ideas of Liar and Ogre Battle on his acoustic guitar to the rest of the band. |

Queen II and ADATR. . . . But then again any of the classic 70's albums, but also Hot Space to see how Mack influenced what went to tape and to see the band stepping in a new direction. Also Made In Heven, I'd really like to see how the dinamic changed from the mid 70's to this album and see how they worked and what influenced the decisions that produced the album. Yeah I know it doesn't really answer Matt's original question but as with all things Queen I can never get the choices down to two! |

Hot Space due to the fact that Brian & Roger have both talked about the "emotional" trouble the band got into in some degree or another, with everything that was going on behind the scenes. It would be a turning point in how the band interacted with each other at that point. Or The Game, to see if Freddie had a mustache when the studio version of AOBTD was being recorded lol. |

I'd choose so many albums... Queen II, SHA, ANATO, NOTW, The Miracle, Innuendo, etc, etc... I'll stick to Queen II and Innuendo, my two fav Queen albums. No-one mentioned NOTW! Shame on you! PS: Hot Space? RLY? |

Hot Space is brilliant!! |

Well... not mentioned in this thread yet "The Game" as there is a rumour going around that basically a double album was made at the time, one (shelved) recorded as a traditional "old sound" Queen album. To be a fly on the wall and hear these tracks and also version of Sail Away Sweet Sister sung by Freddie.... #2 The Works To hear all the tracks which were never quite completed and all the mentioned versions which might exist. Man On Fire with Freddie on vocals etc etc... |

Queen I & Queen II were closing together and to other musical fields, of course, Hot Space. |

Queen II, A day at the races, The game, the works, the Miracle and Innuendo. It isn't easy to peak. |

ANATO, ADATR, NOTW, The Game, Innuendo. |

Live Killers and Flash Gordon. |

Obviously ''39' and 'Good Company', which are my two favourite Queen songs. I'd be really lucky if I could attend a recording session which included bits for both, because that'd free up my second wish, and then I'd probably pick Frederick harmonising with myself on either 'The Kiss' or 'You Take My Breath Away'. |

Sheer Heart Attack so I could see the team dynamics of the group working with and without Brian. |

Hot Space & The Works When I joined Queenzone, I read a lot of bad comments about Hot Space. However, when I played the CD for the first time, I love it and found it more "modern" than the previous albums that I listened to. Radio Ga Ga was my intro to Queen. After listening to it on the radio, I went round the CD shops to buy a record with Radio Ga Ga and I found it in Live Magic. |

Queen II & Innuendo Queen II to experience their creativity pre-fame & oh my the tracks you’d get to hear being created. I’d love to feel how much they craved it, how much they believed in their ideas & how their studio dynamic as a group was at this time. Innuendo similarly : the last full album. How they came together & created something very different to the work they’d been doing in the ‘80’s. What were they feeling at this time. I’d be curious of course to discover through my own eyes how shared the writing/construction process of songs truly was & if writing as a whole band had meant in this way the studio was very different. There are other albums I’d love to be there for too, but if you can only choose 2 let’s go for these two: second & second to last. |
