I remember back in the early 2000s Justin Hawkins was among those mooted as potential frontman for the Queen+ project. Instead, in 2004-5, they went with Paul Rodgers and then in 2011, Adam Lambert. Meanwhile Justin was busy reuniting with the Darkness for world tours. Justin also dealt with substance abuse and addiction issues in the 2000s. In the late 2010s, and more years experience in the music industry, is Justin Hawkins more credible as a potential Queen+ frontman?
Queen had loads of hits mate.
Oh I see.
Don't forget that RT's son is now in The Darkness. So the two worlds did collide in a way.
I don't think Justin has a strong voice. Fun, sure, but not 'Queen' strong.

His name came up a few times (press speculation) but nothing from Brian or Roger and some fans seemed to think he would be good, though a lot of those fans seemed to think any singer who mentioned liking the band were in the running for a while.
It really wasn't a question of the band going with PR instead. They rehearsed with Rodgers for a One off TV appearance and during those rehearsals decided that there maybe an opportunity to tour together.
They are a great live band I do think they peaked commercially with I believe in a thing called love etc, which is a shame I think the image change was due to not being taken serious and then well...the addiction etc. I remember Jon Bon Jovi saying he absolutely hated The Darkness years ago
The only good thing about The Darkness is the drummer. I saw them supporting the Hollywood Vampires earlier this year and The Damned (the other support) completely blew The Darkness out of the water.
Met Justin Hawkins at the Queen+ PR gig in Birmingham in 2005 complete arsehole and really not such a good live singer so for me Queen mad the right move JH would have been a massive fail...…...
Certainly better than Lambert. Would have been an excellent fit, he even looks like Freddie's lovechild. Excellent frontman ad can play geetar brilliantly too.
