Browsing through the very fine website link I found a picture of Freddie in his black and white harlequin suit which seems to be a negative version of the regular one (black is white and white is black). link
Has anyone ever seen this before and/or can tell me more about it?
Cheers
It's definitely not edited. That'd be a hell of a photoshopping job, and to what end?
Great catch - it's definitely from another show.
I'll attach the photo in question here, as I'm going to have to remove it from my site.
Thanks for pointing this out.
In all the years I have been studying the band's stage costumes, I have never seen this variation of Freddie's Harlequin leotard before. Amazing. I have recently been surprised and intrigued by another leotard that Freddie wore on stage but in RED! This was printed in a recent picture book of the band. Although you can clearly see the black belt, could this have been doctored?
I'd say that's black but under stage lighting. You see this a lot. Look at this picture of Brett Anderson.. for years I thought WOW I've never seen him in this outfit before until I did the math.
I noticed it as this is my favorite Freddie costume.
My thought was also it might be a (very good) photoshop job.
But as Mr. Wizzard already mentioned, to what end?
Maybe we've all missed the few shows he actually wore this variation.
As we are talking costumes, he only wore the black/white We Are The Champions outfit on the video shoot and concert, did he?
BobbytheCat, Yes, strangely, FM only wore the two tone leotard at the WATC video/gig. Unfortunately it seems there is no video footage of FM wearing the striped leotards.
Kurgan. Thats great, many thanks for finding out the date.
Different versions this kind of suit:
1. white sleeveless
2. black sleeveless (with diamonds in front)
3. white&black diamonds
4. white, red, green diamonds
5. black&white diamonds (reverse - Dayton)
6. half black, half white
7. white black striped
8. silver lurex
9. red lurex

You're welcome, another photo from later in the set shows him in a what looks like the green, red and white harlequin leotard.
It's in black and white so I can't tell for certain.
Strange goings on that night with costume changes perhaps?
Thanks so much for your help everyone.
Turns out we didn't miss the shows but just didn't notice the suit.
If Mr Kurgan could share the mentioned photos it would be most appreciated.
cheers
Update.
Some photos from the Dayton gig were shared privately.
They were taken by a professional photographer who sometimes sells prints of his work.
I've asked him if he can list some of the ones he took backstage at Dayton and will post links here if he does.

If it is the same book I have (by Micheal O'Neill) it's listed as being from Boston '77.
Here's another taken by Stephen Sherman at the same show that you may not have seen before: link
