Hey long time listener, first time caller. I know you guys are tough on newbies so i'll make this hopefully informative and interesting. And if not, i guess its back to just posting on my Beatles board. Living here in the US as a Queen fan is very different now given the success of the movie. I became a huge fan and even joined the fan club around Wayne's World but the movie has made Queen an even bigger deal-the most since 1980 (as you are all aware i'm sure and know that Queen had 2 albums in the top 10 here a few weeks ago for the first time ever). A combination of a successful (albeit MOR) movie as you all have discussed and a better acceptance of all types of lifestyles (which was not the case even around Wayne's World-i got made fun of wearing a Queen shirt around high school back then asking me why i listened to the "gay band"). I'm in NYC and tickets for Queen & AL at MSG sold out very quickly so they've added a second show (tickets go on sale next week). That is a very impressive feat compared to even last year when I easily got Queen tix on the North American tour and while it sold well, there were empty seats.
Anyway, I just heard a couple of songs from Queen II while i was at Trader Joes doing grocery shopping. You might say "deep cuts" (MOTBQ and FHLI) as somebody was just posting about. I can't speak to what happens to you folks across the pond, but you would never hear a non-Queen hit here in something as everyday as a grocery store. Whether you like Queen +AL and the movie or not (and Maylor's treatment of the brand), it's nice to be here at a time when it's mainstream to like Queen and we can all be happy about that I think. So, thats it. Only other thing is Bob, i love your site about the concerts. I spend way too much time on it as its quite addictive. I'll start on one concert and suddenly i've read through 2 years of concerts. Keep up the good work! Love this Board too.
Queen II in a Trader Joe's? Yeah, we're more likely to get that Brian led live version of '39 from the St. Louis show in '77 than hear that again over a stores PA.

When I worked at IKEA (USA) they played "Play the Game" & "Need Your Loving Tonight" on multiple occasions. I guess the impact from the The Game still lingers somewhat.
^it was one of the first "selective" quality product and wholesome, mostly enviro friendly and nutritionally conscious small chain market stores in the west coast (as far as I know it's a west coast thing) They have stuff like herbal tea, fresh farmers market vegetables, alternate foods for vegans, vegetarians etc.

Trader Joe's are East Coast, as well. At least in New York and New Jersey.
Well, here in Portugal Queen is everywhere you turn! On radio, tv commercials, facebook, record stores! Well this last one is not true because at least one particular big store has no Queen cds! They're all sold out!
