Marc Martel, known for fronting The Queen Extravaganza and The Ultimate Queen Celebration, recently released an EP of Queen cover songs. The EP is entitled Thunderbolt And Lightning. Here is an overview of the eight tracks. link |

Thank you sharing :) I think he has an excellent voice. I've listening to some Thunderbolt And Lightning teasers from youtube, and they sound really good! |

Haven't listened to it but just a thought: whats the point? Promotion? ? It's not like he'll do a fresh new take on things like Tony Bennett would. . It's QUEEN tracks done QUEEN style right? |

No. |

He's a karaoke singer releasing a karaoke album. |

It surprises me Martel doesn't get the beating Lambert does on here. Martel doesn't have his own style, music or personality and effectively IS a karaoke singer. :') Mad world... |

Lambert is a completely different case. He will always provoke reactions, because he stands out: Looks, voice, open gayness, just his presence. All of it can be seen by some as provocation. Even if we are unaware of it. Lambert has star qualities. I don’t like everything he does. But Lambert has that in spades. Martel? Looks like my nextdoor neighbor and is as such uninteresting. |
ShadesNoir 10.12.2018 14:46 |
Martel brings a fresh approach to songs that we all know and love. It may not be a release for everyone, but I appreciate Martel’s creativity and boldness. |

^i thought it had to do with Lambert Xtina Aguilera- ing every song and starting out pretty badly (he's not bad at all now) and because - although he claimed to have loved Queens music forever - he often had to be reminded who the band members were (blatant sign that he "bloated/enhanced his resume to appeal to the job) Not because he's gay. But it's also true, some people think his solo stuff is commercialized corporate garbage culled from rejected corporate song team libraries and that they exploited his gayness with gimmickry. Not because he's gay. But because many rock fans have an aversion to phoney created "artists". I think there used to be a band member in QUEEN that was gay. Right now his name escapes me. ...you might wanna look it up. He was quite prominent as well! |

^matt z if your post was a relply to mine: I didn’t say, that Queen fans have a problem with Lambert being a gay man. I said, there are several things about him, which provoke reactions. Only one of them is, that he’s openly gay and that he shows it. Believe it or not, there a still a lot of Queen fans, who have a problem with that. Freddie had never thrown his sexuality into their faces, you know? ;) |

Marc Martel knows how to write a song. He can play several instruments and sings like a God. Martel is a hard working artist with a productivity that impresses me. I take that anyday above Adam Lambert touring with two men that could have been his granddaddy's. Lambert doesn't provoke me at all. Being provoked by a gay person is so 1990s. He is just a very annoying singer, and extremely cringeworthy in his efforts of being "camp". To sum up Lambert: Annoying voice, poor musician, bad taste. |

To me, Adam sings like a God. ;) But yes: You go and listen to Martel and everybody, who likes to enjoy QAL , can attend their concerts. And we all are happy! And Granddads? Really? :D Adam is 36, almost 37. Brian would have become a Granddad at 35, Roger at 33. I mean, it‘s possible in general. Only that most of their own kids are younger than Adam. |
AngelR 11.12.2018 02:24 |
@AnotherRoger If Martel was anything like you described him above, he would've been touring with his own music, not as a Queen tribute. I know Queen music sells and you are a fan but ..... |

Matt z, to answer your original question, it more than likely is promotion since he’s going to be touring with the Black Jacket Symphony doing A Night at the Opera in 2019. |
AngelR 11.12.2018 14:05 |
@Anniebee Where did you get that from? The release of this 'album' was clearly timed for the movie! |
Anniebee 11.12.2018 14:31 |
Just speculation. I know he’s touring with Black Jacket Symphony because he’s coming to my city and I’m debating whether or not to go. |

Martel have been touched by Freddies spirit. Martel sing with his soul, from the heart,so to speak. |

I listend to the songs on Spotify and they are great. Well done Martel. |

I would much rather listen to Marc Martel over Adam.....he has a better voice for Queen’s music....even the drummer for Queen Extravaganza is better....you can close your eyes and it almost sounds like Freddie....Adam can’t do that....and yes he does do the annoying Aguilera add ons to their songs....plus he is so committed to this show tune style act and trying to sell himself as a gay artist vs a great artist.....maybe because his sexuality is the only thing he may have in common with Freddie....Freddie was just Freddie...he didn’t have to sell anything he just performed as the greatest frontman and singer the world had ever seen... It would never happen but I would have preferred if they just toured with someone that can at least sound like Freddie somewhat..... |

His DSMN cover is called Don't stop me now (official music video), no mention of cover or his name in the title. No wonder he gets so many views. |

he is getting away with making money from Queen as he is a nice chap has a great singing voice and is not an annyoing twat like Lamberace who is just as fake as one can be. Fake "Rock" singer trying to act like a rock god. Fucking loser. I never saw MM wear a crown and look like "Look at me" .And MM is far from doing Aguilera vocal acrobatics. You can criticize him for jumping on the Queen bandwagon but I'd prefer MM anytime over Lamebert, Once a twat always a twat |

Marc Martel he has a mediocre singing voice |
AngelR 12.12.2018 08:13 |
@Grantcdn1 What are you talking about? You can only listen to Martel's Queen records over the original Queen records with Freddie as Lambert hasn't recorded any covers. You might not like Lambert but he's got something Martel lacks - artistic integrity. |

Dance crap artists pretending to be a "Rocker" - there is not a single bit about the annoying twat that screams "integrity" . You are fucking delusional if you believe your own crap. Lamebird is a dance twat with a paperthin women's voice doing Aguilera Vocal acrobatics and destroying every song he sings. |

Surely it's better to listen to Queen ABTD hear the voice that is Freddie. As far as touring with someone who sounds like Freddie,my hat is the last thing Brian and Roger want. Standing on stage with someone who almost sound like but isn't having spent so line working with Freddie Lambert got the job because he has a voice and an ability to interpret the songs within their original framework and do it while sounding different. If you want to here Freddie's voice listen to the albums or watch the DVD's if you want to experience something of what Queen were in the 70's and 80's go and see one of the better tribute bands. |

I know that everyone does not like Lambert or Martel or Paul Rodgers, but all of them were brought into the Queen world by Roger and Brian. Can we at least be happy that these men have all helped to keep the music of the band that we love so much alive and well into the 21st century. Some fans may not care for what they have done and are doing with the music of Queen but their efforts are helping to bring the music of Queen to new fans. Isn't that a good thing? None of them, Rodgers, Lambert or Martel, tried to replace Freddie, but helped to continue the legacy of the music that he helped to create. As a fan I applaud their efforts. |
bucsateflon 13.12.2018 16:49 |
I truly think Marc Martel has an inferior voice compared to Adam Lambert. Even better for Queen these days is that AL squeaky high voice is starting to mature and go lower with little more growling in it. Freddie sought after the same deeper lower growling voice, that's why he smoked. |
