Queen
Newcastle, UK
City Hall
December 3, 1979
This is yet another upgrade of the first night in Newcastle, as someone located a cleaner copy after I'd posted Epislash's version a few days earlier.
It is a much cleaner copy of the tape, and as a bonus most of the previous watermarking issues are not present here. The only major blot that remains is the fade out/in near the end of the guitar solo, which has been altered here to normalize the volume (the tape hiss increases for a few seconds, as the original edit was analog).
I also sped up Spread Your Wings, as it ran a bit slow like on the previous copy (although the next 25 minutes of tape run at the right speed here, unlike that version).
However, there are about 20 seconds less tape at the beginning of the show, and four minutes of cheering between encores has been removed at some point down the line. There's also a small (presumably digital) blip at the beginning of Bohemian Rhapsody, where a few microseconds of piano are missing.
Thanks to Harry for sending me his copy, which he acquired on CDR at least a decade ago. And thanks to the taper.

Amazing two upgrades within days of each other, the Bo Rhap movie seems to have inspired people to have a look at their old recordings. Thank you Bob and also the guys who found and shared these with you.
Sorry for being the noob here but which songs are missing in the beginning? Intro tape followed by jailhouse rock or we Will Rock you fast... or did the show start with entertain you??

No music is missing, it is the only recording we have with Queen starting their show with Let Me Entertain You. It happened few times during the Crazy Tour. Make me wonder why they haven't done it more often, i think it is a great opener.

Great to have this... I was at the NEC show in Birmingham, great memories. Guess this is as close as I’ll ever get. Thanks all.
I can offer you this: link
Do you have any memories of that day? Any specific things that happened during the show?
It's always great reading stories like this :)
