I have Just been listening to the "Bohemian Rhapsody" Soundtrack, namely the "20th Century Fox Fanfare" and got to thinking of what other Iconic tunes that Brian has performed, so it spurred me on to upload Brian's version of the "2001 A Space Odyssey" theme tune, that he performed live a while back..
That was masterful.
And people say he's been playing the same solo for 50 years. They are deaf.
Nice heads up hockey from Jim Hillman on keys. No doubt this was spontaneous and not rehearsed.
This would have actually been good if Brian incorporated this into his guitar solo around 1978/1979 that way while Roger was doing his Timpani Solo in the same interlude, he could have joined in with Brian...
That was beautiful. A few weeks ago I saw 2001 in NYC with live soundtrack played by the NY Philharmonic and it didn't give me the chills like this brief snippet.
Would it kill him to do this more frequently?
Although, I must say his solos from the Adam Lambert gigs have been great and rarely overstay their welcome, which I thought was the case in previous tours.
