I always regarded this song as a 'good bye to fans' from Freddie. The same way as the video for "TATDOOL".
This can be the reason why it has been placed right before "The Show" on the album. It's like the intro to the closing track of the final Freddie's album.
@Jimmy Dean Your comment was sarcastic but some people really think that the song is about a cat and I wonder what the reason is.

I was thinking of another possibility. Maybe it's about Freddie's ring which Jim gave to him and Bijou is about of that ring as a symbol of their love.
Often wondered why jim, joe and peter were all left the same amount of money 500k, if jim was indeed freddies partner at the time of his death, you would think he would be left a higher sum of money than the other two.

As far as I know, Jim H. got a house in Ireland from Freddie while Freddie was close to the end. At least they had a agreement about that subject.
Joe Fanelli got a small house as a support because he had the disease too.
This was discussed years ago... here we go again: this song was inspired by Jeff Beck's song "Where were you" and lyrics and title could be about a bird named "Bijou" by Brian May's mom Ruth, a bird that used to visit Brian's bedroom window.
