Hey!
I managed to download the official FLAC files that were released in early September. The drums are much higher in this mix compared to the radio broadcast. Enjoy! link

Are the drums really higher in the mix (as opposed to maybe being mastered to make them more pronounced)? I haven’t listened to this new release but I thought everything had been mixed down to stereo and the mastertracks weren’t available? (Therefore can’t be remixed).
There is only one mix with different masterizations, like this one who made thelagjag to say the drums are much higher in the mix (?).
We may speculate there are no multitracks at all, or nobody bothered to revisit them.
The radio recording has a natural sound while the digitally overproduced official versions sacrifice the original character. But the mix seems to be the same.
Nicam had nothing to do with radio, it was a digital audio carrier used alongside analog TV broadcasts in the UK.
Higher end video recorders and TV's had nicam decoders built in, here's another example of a nicam broadcast by the BBC: link
