IOnlyLikeAdam wrote: I am posting this thread in this forum because it has as much to do with Queen as it does QAL. A creative and funny way to address MY frustration with the still frequent referrals to a guy who has been gone for 27 years now. Let me put out MY opinion about this whole Freddie the frontman, Adam the "replacement" brouhaha. YMMV 1. Adam teaming with Queen allows them to continue to put on a spectacular show of wonderful music. Brian and Roger have both said they would not be doing this now if not for Adam. Adam gives new life to Queen. 2. If Freddie had not died of AIDS in 1991 would Queen still be performing? We'll never know, but I doubt it. Freddie was not anything near a fitness nut and he lived hard and fast. If he made it to age 72, I don't think he would have been in any kind of shape to be doing world tours in arenas. His voice almost certainly would not have held up. It was already frayed in the 1980s. His voice today would be a pale shadow of what it once was, and melodies, keys and harmonies would have to be altered and simplified in order for him to come close to singing them. His energy and stamina would be much less than in his heyday. 3. Adam today is at the height of his vocal prowess, his energy, his confidence, his beauty. He can handle anything and everything in the Queen repertoire, and do it repeatedly, consistently, over time. His energy carries the QAL performance. 4. Flat out, Adam is a better singer than Freddie. 5. Adam inspires Brian and Roger to new heights of performing. We know that Brian at least is kind of a stick in the mud who doesn't like to change things up or try new things. Adam's creativity, enthusiasm and energy, plus his potential as a frontman, encourage Brian and Roger to do more, imagine more. Plus, Adam shares the spotlight and, in typical theater form, throws the attention to Brian and Roger during their solos and features. Adam has encouraged Brain to be more front and center. 6. Adam is more fun onstage than Freddie was. Both reach across the stage lights and connect with the audience, but Adam is more lighthearted with a sense of humor and a little absurdity. When Freddie was at the piano, the audience connection was reduced. Adam is out front and interacting throughout the whole concert. 7. Adam is more enjoyable to look at. Beautiful. Graceful. Moving like a dancer. Adam is not a great substitute for Freddie. Not a great replacement. Adam is the best frontman and lead singer and co-creator for the best Queen show ever mounted. Period. Full stop.

But we are on a different level when we mention the name Freddie Mercury.

People like us get laughed at but I know all the other fools are jealous of my superior knowledge and intellect. Fuck the rest. I know I'm a dripping vulture turd falling on a desert wasteland of empty headed beliefs, but my real power is that I'd nerve admit that in public. I wish I could have Freddie's babies, but being a half wit he wouldn't have looked at me twice and being male caused all sorts of biological problems when it came to conceiving for me. All of this has left me a compete dull headed bumfuck, and although I try to make out people like The Real Wizard can't compete with my amazing view of all things Queen I have to admit that he, and many others are far far more intelligent than I will ever be. Hope this goes someway to explaining the stupid content of my posts on this site in the past. Can't wait to see the band tour with Lambert again, I love him more than Freddie now

Classy, with the gay-slur and all. You do realize Freddie liked to dress up in drag and called men by women's names, right?

happystar wrote: Freddie only dressed up in drag because of I want to break Free He had a lot of images for different videos, and Freddie was worth a million of Adam Lamberts. Yes Freddie called guys by womans names so nothing wrong with that, He was a flamboyant character and very artistic. Lambert on the other hand has no original dress sense and has copied everything from the last 44 years that has already been done from Freddie to Boy George.

So it's ok for one particular gay guy to ham it up but not another. Freddie actually got into drag for two videos and appeared on stage in a wig and false tits, so kind of more extreme than Lambert. Also don't try to rewrite history, Bowie, Roxy Music and Marc Bolan were tarting themselves up before Queen. Freddie invented nothing in that respect, h also went on to "borrow" the leather look from Rob Halford, Presley and a number of others form the 50's 60's and 70's. Your wide spread comments on this narrow subject are flawed and you're appearing to know less and less about everything you post.

That's a bit harsh, don'tcha think?

happystar wrote: Dean: I am a complete insult to the memory of Freddie Mercury, i am a nobody when you look at this mixed up freak on this board standing in front of Freddie's fans telling you all I ain't in love with Freddie and Adam too blah blah blah, what a load of bollocks I always post! I'm just a sad screwed up fat old queen with no talent.

I have no problems on other Queen sites only this one, now does that not make you think that this site is governed by bullies.

Yeah, and the simple fact that in the '70s and '80s, stage lighting was extremely hot while nowadays it's nowhere near that doesn't have anything to do with it, of course... So, you're back and still clueless.
