This came to mind just now, but do you think Queen should release both nights of the Rainbow gig, at their entirety, as a two-disc?.
Why suddenly they should do so, if they could do so in 2014?
Should they? Yes. Will they? No.
They should do a billion things.
They should change the main bank account number of Queen Productions to mine.
But they won't.
Well, maybe in 2074, but not earlier than that.
Of course, they could have released both nights separately in 2014, but then again they could have done a lot of things in previous years. Excuses like "The audio of this concert hasn't stood the test of time," or "The majority of this show has been lost because Brian doesn't remember it having ever been recorded in the first place (or doesn't want to)," always work wonders for them.
The point is that they want to make money off what is forecast to sell well based on prior experience. Things like Rainbow will fare well only among the older folk or those whose knowledge of Queen music once made it past at least the main studio and live discography. Even with all the shortcomings still there, this release would become a true treasure were it to be released one day. They could fix the faulty bits, after all.
Rhys Thomas mentioned the problems with the audio of 1 night when he did that q&a on reddit a couple of years ago.
Rhys' info has always been straightforward and good so I take his word.
My question is why didn't they release the full 2nd night alone with a hope the audio of the 1st night will be recovered? I know there was a power-cut but they can leave it as a part of the show like they left Brian's problems during his solo in Milton Keynes 82.

I think something has chanced in their attitude. They seem to release only "perfect" ie. auto-tuned, fake sounding etc. products these days.
