I've just noticed as well that the Queen Official YT channel have uploaded NIH from Hammersmith '75, which is a part of this release (audio only obviously). This gives me some small hope and wonder if they'll upload a video from Paris of FBG. I'm assuming it's from one of the '79 shows, but who knows with QPL! lol -Chin |
Kevinrm15 05.09.2018 13:56 |
It is from 1979. Here is the press release: link |
RobbyBloodshed 05.09.2018 14:16 |
The three I’m most excited for: Doin alright revisited...I always loved that song and thought it was underrated, so it’ll nice to have a polished-pristine quality version. Fat Bottomed in Paris, can’t wait to hear that, being it’ll be remixed and all. Don’t Stop Me Now revisited, sounds interesting. I wonder what is different about it as opposed to the regular Jazz version. Remix? Lost parts added? |
Sam99 05.09.2018 14:30 |
Being a die hard fan I just ordered the soundtrack, it is what it is just a couple of new tracks, but realistically this was always going to be a mostly hits package. |
Kuijpy 05.09.2018 14:36 |
why is everybody so excited? What is so special about this 'crap'? Same shit, STL, BoRhap, KQ, Break Free, AOBTD, TSMGO, WWTLF, CLTCL Every fan has the Live Aid recording COMPLETE... Fat Bottomed Girls from Paris, yes new but not for the fans... KYA and NIH we all know from the 2014 release... soo yeaaah not gonna buy it.. Doing allright, DSMN and WWRY are at the same day for free on YouTube, Queeen lost me.. |
Apocalipsis_Darko 05.09.2018 15:12 |
I just listen the soundtrack and there's nothing special, only the new Doin Alright version |
pittrek 05.09.2018 15:16 |
Doing Alright sounds interesting, like the live track from Paris, everything else is a big "meh". But as I know Queen Productions, the 2 interesting tracks will be on their youtube channel soon. |
Michael Scapp 05.09.2018 15:21 |
I wonder why they used the 1979 version of Fat Bottomed Girls, I was really curious about the 1974 Queen II tour version...;) |
Joeker 05.09.2018 15:57 |
Seeing as how the film ends at Live Aid, the addition of Who Wants to Live Forever & The Show Must Go On are interesting. |
rockchic65 05.09.2018 16:19 |

Fredfan 05.09.2018 17:07 |
well this is another opportunity for queen to reintroduce themselves and Fred again to a new generation, much like what Wayne's World did for the 1990s and beyond folks, so while i think these are all familiar songs, they're probably not meant for the diehard Queen fan |
dysan 05.09.2018 17:11 |
It's OK. I won't buy it, but interested to hear it. |

No Crazy Little Thing Called Love or We Will Rock You from Live Aid to give the complete Live Aid set - shame. |
Plengel 05.09.2018 18:41 |
There is some interesting stuff on here. I'm very curious about the 20th Century Fox theme and the revisited tracks, but what I do not understand is why they only release half of the Live Aid set in audio. Would have been nicer to add We Will Rock You and Crazy Little Thing Called Love and remove some of the regular stuff. |
Queenman!! 05.09.2018 18:58 |
not for me... lost interest in buying queen stuff after the Rainbow box set |
Golden Salmon 05.09.2018 19:54 |

The new video clip released today seems to have the Earls Court version of Bo Rhap (heavy end section at least), but this isn’t on the album, so my guess is a number of the tracks on the album that are just the regular editions will feature in another form in the film. |
cmsdrums 05.09.2018 20:06 |
.and with regard to Crazy Little Thing... and WWRY missing from Live Aid - Presumably the thinking will be to withhold those two tracks and force people towards buying the Montreal/Live Aid release for a few more £££. |

It's a shame because it means they won't be complete tracks, but whatever. |
matt z 05.09.2018 23:17 |
They really missed an opportunity to bring DELILAH back to the limelight... such a shame... it should be an OST cut. silliness and solo ...should be required listening for all |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 06.09.2018 01:29 |
I never thought of something that could kill all of my interest in the movie. Now that you mention it, Delilah would do it. ;) Cheers, Ogre- |
Grantcdn1 06.09.2018 01:45 |
I’ll buy it for the opening 25 seconds alone lol (I will be so pumped when that comes on in the theatre) and the revisited tracks...only wish they did more revisiting....but it is better than just another greatest hits v10. Curious what other clips of music we will get in the movie itself |
matt z 06.09.2018 01:48 |
Hear hear! ^^ the Fox fanfare will have me rolling. Wish they could play it twice. One to cheer ;) I hope he, Vai and Iommi are doing the BILL & TED 3 soundtrack |
flash00. 06.09.2018 03:38 |
Probably a deluxe version in the pipeline (no tracks at all this limited edition is purely for the fans) contents incl 1 balloon, 1 sticker and 1 custard cream biscuit also possibly (fingers crossed) a paper Christmas hat in aubergine, the same exclusive design as Christmas crackers. |
*goodco* 06.09.2018 06:11 |
Track list above (with TYMD replacing the second KYA) sounds right. Oh....and a 'hidden' track with twenty two seconds of the 'Man Made Paradise' demo. |
dysan 06.09.2018 06:19 |
I wonder if this will be peppered with film dialogue? Fingers crossed eh. |
Nathan H 06.09.2018 06:54 |
Well seeing that the length of the album is 1:19:44 (just 16 seconds under 80 minutes, the maximum length of CDs), I Want To Break Free is probably the track they edited otherwise the album running time would've been over 80 minutes. I Want To Break Free is probably an edit of the single version; it probably either starts off like the album version or the instrumental solo is edited. |
Golden Salmon 06.09.2018 07:56 |
dysan wrote: I wonder if this will be peppered with film dialogue? Fingers crossed eh.From the press release: Unlike Queen's soundtrack to "Flash Gordon", no spoken dialogue from "Bohemian Rhapsody" is included on this new album. And while the film uses only parts from songs and performances, the soundtrack features the full-length versions of some of the band's best-loved studio and live recordings. |
Wijnand 06.09.2018 08:15 |
For me this release is more interesting than expected. A few new/revisited things, and also some 'previously unreleased' (officially)... Yeah, better than expected... :-) |
Golden Salmon 06.09.2018 08:42 |
^I expected almost nothing. A reworked Smile track was most certainly in, but they did a bit more than that. The movie itself most likely contains some more interesting bits, so it's something this year - although less than previous years. |
aristide1 06.09.2018 09:48 |
PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED AS AUDIO ONLY (bold as on queenonline), although true, is the kind of shameless marketing advert you could find on the 1990's bulgarian pirated CDs, together with Japan live shows which are Wembley 86 in fact. Back then it was all part of the game and nobody cared too much, but now, 20 years later, i feel offended to be taken for a fool again, this time officially. I could be wrong, maybe i'm "surrounded by dark influences", but on every occasional revisit of the catalogue, like this, i'm always amazed by the poor appearance of the opulent Queen archive, it's like a mad billionaire who walks in rags. |
cmsdrums 06.09.2018 10:42 |
aristide1 wrote: PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED AS AUDIO ONLY .Exactly - as if we haven't been able to rip the audio ourselves from the Live Aid DVD releases. And leaving two tracks out of the Live Aid set is intentional to push new listeners/buyers into buying the Montreal with Live Aid DVD. Even then, the headline wording of "featuring previously unavailable Queen performances at Live Aid" is wrong...they WERE available (just not on CD or download). |
Viper 06.09.2018 11:03 |
Queen's Live Aid performance was also available on the Live Aid dvd box set... |
bradbobly 06.09.2018 13:30 |
Not everybody has either the time, inclination or technical savvy to rip the audio from the dvd ( especially those of us over a certain age...lol ) so the audio tracks from Live Aid are welcome to some people. I also guess they chose to include the original re-mixes of WWRY and CLTCL for whatever reason and perhaps did not want to repeat the tracks twice on the same album. I have not looked but does the running order perhaps coincide with the film time line which may be another reason they chose to include the remix version of these tracks rather than the Live Aid versions ? |
ActionThisDay 06.09.2018 14:08 |
As the Hot Space era seems to be one of the main features in this movie, I'm little shocked maybe in not seeing maybe a tad more from that album just to see where it all went wrong. |
Viper 06.09.2018 15:40 |
About Live Aid... maybe the missing tracks on the soundtrack are the ones that won't appear on the movie. |

runner_70 06.09.2018 18:50 |
Clear tosee that this movie is just the May-Solo show whereas it should be about Freddie. More Brian SOngs, DonÄt stop me now with more Brian guitar etc etc. May is really getting on my nerves with time |
dysan 06.09.2018 18:59 |
Doing Alright I suppose because it's a known track - possibly to explain who Tim is to those casual listeners who might have wondered who the co-writer is. I'm also assuming May would've get any cash for Earth. I also assume it's a remix of the Queen 1 version - I'd love to be wrong on that one. Also - Live Aid audio = boring AF. See how much it loses without the visuals. Could be any other random live tracks which just clutters up a decent collection for me. Live the misc live stuff on the 2011 discs. Skip! |

I'm pretty sure it's a soundtrack for the masses. And being that it's a soundtrack it's nice they've redone DOING ALL RIGHT.....wouldn't make sense to see an era of their lives using archival music or SOMEONE else's music. It's a fair respect toward their beginnings. The product is NOT for me. Though i may purchase it if it's like $9 just for the 20th century fanfare and SMILE 2017/8 |

This is what Tim Staffel said about the new version of "Doin All Right" in a recent Spanish language interview. My own translation below. I am not a native English or Spanish speaker, so bear with me. Source: link on Tim Staffel's Facebook to: link My translation (feel free to improve it): Tim Staffell will appear as a character in the movie “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and has recorded voices for the scene in which Mercury watches Smile in a club. “They are playing ‘Doin’ alright’ and used the multitracks of the Queen version. The guy that plays me sings over these multitracks. Brian (May) told me he was not satisfied with the voice, so he asked me to go to the studio to record some parts for the movie's multitracks. I went to Abbey Road and dubbed some parts, singing ‘Doin’ alright’. We tried to make it sound more like Smile, and I think it worked. We made it a little bit more agressive, more raw; so that it would be more similar to the sound of the time when it was recorded, even though most of the multitrack parts were from the Queen version." Cheers, Ogre- |

"I recently was listening to Earth and wonder why that great song didn't make the cut for the first 2 Queen records. Tim sings that song? sounds a lot like Brian." Earth was solely written by Tim. To be honest it could've been used for the movie but in the end they went with the familiar song. |
Michael Allred 09.09.2018 09:05 |
I suspect they went with Doing Allright over Earth because neither Brian or Roger have songwriting credit on Earth and therefore wouldn't make any royalties plus Doing Alright being on a Queen album would get the promotion from the film and soundtrack with the hopes that people will seek out said album and yes, make Queen more money. If I'm being honest though, I think Earth is easily a better song than Doing Alright. |
dudeofqueen 09.09.2018 10:09 |
Michael, re: >If I'm being honest though, I think Earth is easily a better song than Doing Alright. It is. Creating a brand new track in 2018 that is supposed to represent what a band was doing in 1969 is yet ANOTHER piece of revisionist work in a film that is fundamentally flawed. There's absolutely no way that this will represent what Smile were. |

I don’t reckon there will be any new drums or guitars, though it’s possible that Brian’s perfectionist/revisionist streak may mean some new guitar bits in places. Presumably therefore this means the anomaly of Freddie playing piano on the new Smile version?? |
Golden Salmon 09.09.2018 11:47 |
^Yeah, I'm talking about what has been quoted here. I do want to listen to the new work but a Frankensteinian version is not what I expect from them. Now I know Queen were the first artists from Live Aid to release their performances from the show on their own release (as an extra from the Montreal bluray) but does this soundtrack mark the first time a Live Aid performer released their setlist on their own cd release? In fact, has ANY artist who performed at Live Aid ever released any or all of their part of the concert on any of their own releases? Did Queen manage to buy the rights to their Live Aid performance (if so why hasn't anyone else done that yet?) or do you think it's some licensing deal where Queen pay a fixed royalty sum to the Live Aid/Bob Geldof organization? |

Tim was a better singer than Brian...When I heard the song I thought to myself how does Brian sound so good?. Never realized Tim wrote the song either, thought it was Brian. I heard people say Freddie sounded like Tim, or even copied him...I disagree, he sounds like a better version of Brian on vocals. |

Pim Derks wrote: It's a shame the new Smile recording is Doing All Right and not Earth. Still, can't wait to hear it!Earth and Step On Me were Smile songs and remain so. Doing All Right became a Queen song and so provides a direct link to that band. If your telling a story it should flow and make sense. I'm guessing the film will reflect Freddie knowing, hearing and or seeing Smile play and a song that connects the two bands is better than one that doesn't. |

Doing alright is a good song, the first record doesn't have a bad song on it. Only the production was weak. Saying that, Earth is a little better. |

@Vocal Harmony If I recall it correctly, "Step On Me" is not a genuine Smile-song but from (the band) "1984", isn't it ? (otherwise you're totally right with what you said) |

Yes, Step on me is from 1984, the previous band to Smile, with Tim and Brian May. |

I don't know why is not included the two nights in Marquee by The Cross in setlist... Tim Staffell told me the first night he was drunk, and the second he was sober and did it better. |

The Morgan version of "Earth" is so, so good. |
