I know Freddie was a Parsi and did not practice the Zoroastrian religion, but he chose to follow the Parsi's ritual for his funeral. I was doing an essay and I chose to write about the Zoroastrian religion and I just find out that the Parsis do not cremate the bodies of the dead, nor they put them underground because they consider that doing so would contaminate those elements that are considered by them sacrated. I know that Freddie was cremated. So if anybody can shed some light into this (as to why he was allowed to be cremated and allowed to participate in the Zoroastrian's ritual) I would appreciate it. Maybe it was done to accommodate que regulations of England, because the way it is done by this religion is very different from any other. The bodies are put in a tower and are let the elements and the vultures consume the body.
Sebastian might be able to advise you on this with his vast knowledge. Seb, any ideas mate?
There used to be a huge Zoroastrian Centre around the corner from me in Rayners Lane, Greater London. Unfortunately, it's no longer there.
I don't think they could do those old traditional rites in the U.K..
I have unfortunately seen a VHS that documented one of those "disposals".
Hacked the limbs to bits they did. And gave them away to the birds. It was shot with a rather great zoom lens. Invasive it was. Disturbing a bit but seemed to actually feel like the one thing that was NOT exploitative in that unfortunate crap that my brothers watched and brought home (a "faces of death" tape)
For one. I can't imagine where they'd find vultures in the U.K. and two, who'd permit it happening in their back yard?

Yes, that's what they do at least in India or Iran. The body is exposed to the elements, the sun especially and the vultures. You made me laugh, where do you find vultures in England? It's true. Even in India the population of vultures has declined a lot and they are trying to make them come back so the Parsis would benefit from this. I can't even imagine my poor Freddie's body going through that! The horror! I'll do some more research on the subject of Parsis who do not live in India or Iran, who by the way are not many. But I thought the subject was interesting.
Ravens could be a gooer???? Game of thrones all of those British"period films HAVE ravens eating the bodies... Then again... They only pick the eyes out... ..... badgers...!!! BRIAN LOVES BADGERS.
Gosh then again... lasting memories of Freddie... Wembley or the live performance of Barcelona vs a raven picking at Freddies corpse and picking out his eyes or fox carrying off with his cock.....
Maybe that's why Freddie put Mary in charge of his remains instead of his parents? I'm sure he probably didn't like the idea of being lain out in the open and eaten by scavengers. There is a huge controversy in India now over this ever since a woman took pictures inside a Tower of Silence and the condition of the bodies in there but that was after Freddie's time. They are split on the issue so I guess it depends on how devout his family was.
I know it's kinda sickening (to me) but what was it in regard to the "conditions" of the bodies left?
To my understanding they're supposed to hopefully be eaten.
Would it have to do with the "hacking" i saw on the vhs? (*maybe that's not supposed to occur?)
...maybe it advances the possibility of digestion but is considered desecrating the dead?
Sorry but this is ONE active thread on QZ and its an interesting albeit distributing one
I HAVE A GENUINE QUESTION ABOUT THIS SO PLEASE DON'T THINK I'M BEING DISRESPECTFUL AND YES I KNOW ITS MORBID AND DISTURBING. WHAT RISK ARE VULTURES AT IF THEY PICK AT THE FLESH OF SOMEONE WHO DIED OF AIDS? AND IF THEY BITE SOMEONE AFTER = OH JEEZ. I KNOW THIS DINT HAPPEN TO FRED BUT JUST WONDERING.
Queen zone is the problem solving for those girls who are in danger of being society fear. The queen zone is talk about the funeral of toppaperwritingservice.com zorontian’s and this happening at the church few moments ago.
The bodies swell of course after death sets in flies rotting flesh maggots and as the animals and birds start to fiest I’m sure the body burst like a ballon. It would be cool to film it. All guts and rotten blood would spill out and you talk about the smell of death.
The truth is that Parsees in the UK are either buried or cremated, and that's simply that religions adapt to the culture that they're in, and the time they're in.
Even Christianity did not allow cremation until relatively recently, and the Roman Catholic Church prohibited it except under certain extreme circumstances until 1963, but now allows it due to the prohibitive costs of funerals for some of its members.
Freddie didn't have any financial worries, but I think he just wanted that part of his life to be private, and in the UK there are still only two options for the laying to rest of a dead person, and the towers of silence is not one of them.
