Hey everyone,
So I woke up today with a copyright claim/strike against my recent upload of the Monterrey 1981 Radio Broadcast. If you know YouTube, if I you get 3 strikes within 3 months, you’re fucked.
I don’t usually have a problem with Content ID claims or whatever but this is different. This was a manual strike down on this video by someone called Laurence James, apparently from Believe Music. This happened even though I disputed the a previous Content ID claim and got the all clear back from Believe Music.
What really pisses me off is that why did they pick THIS specific video where there’s many more on my channel with the same content/claim etc. And why my channel when there’s an abundance of channels uploading even official stuff and not getting shit for it?
So far I’ve reached out to Believe Music on Twitter with no response, and to the email supplied with the copyright strike on YouTube, with also no reply. WTF? YouTube’s system is so broken and can be easily abused.
Attached below is a screenshot of the email stating that the video was released from any copyright claim, the post below shows the copyright strike on the video.
Sorry for the lengthy post but I’m really scared and angry on why this happened.

Is anybody else experiencing anything similar on their channels?
Why are we all guilty until proven innocent?
Of course. I was even thinking about releasing my communication with the legal department of "a USA TV network company", from a few years ago, it was an "interesting" read, but I don't honestly want to get into even more trouble.
Why are we all guilty until proven innocent? Because YouTube operates under DMCA. If they want to keep their safe harbor provisions they MUST not interfere, otherwise they would open themselves to even more lawsuits then they are. And the DMCA is written in favor of the copyright holders. But don't be afraid, the European Union will it have much worse very soon :-)
I can't honestly recommend you what to do - I would try to contact the guy by his business email since he attached it, and try to talk some reason into him, especially if you have evidence that the company he is working for has already once decided not to do any actions against your channel.
Of course the people with corporate commitments are going to do what they can to please the people they work for. There's always someone above them to answer to.
They target people on random, and it was just your turn this time.
Take your videos down, and move on with life.
I’ve just received a second strike, one more and my channel’s gone. This is getting fucking ridiculous, I’ve not been able to get any communication either via email or Twitter. I don’t know what to do...
Same thing has happened to me. One strike and after submitting my appeal, they have suspended my account alltogether. Many people used to find it helpful and I had like 500 subsribers. They say that you cannot register, posess or access other accounts. I am afraid that my other channels (some of them 10+ years old) sink as well due to being linked between then and above most of things, I am scared that because of that first suspension they suspend my personal gmail account as well, which I use like oxygen since 2007. I hope that Google doesn't suspend all the tied accounts (google drive, gmail, etc) due to an youtube account suspension. Weird rules that definitely don't apply the same way for everyone.
^ In the event that does happen, I have removed all traces of my personal email (I made a new account just in case this would happen). So my email is gone from my about page and from the recovery email.
Anywhere else I should be aware of? The last thing I need is to lose my personal email, I use it for EVERYTHING!

Post a video of the (depersonalised) email that gave you the ok, with a soundtrack of you singing "Believe music are cretins who have right / left hand communication deficiencies" for 30 minutes over and over again
I’d probably get another BS Content ID claim for whatever reason.
I just find it very damn strange that out of the many people who upload audience bootlegs and other OFFICIAL stuff, why I am being targeted.
I mean search of Wembley ‘86 or Montreal ‘81, plenty of search results and none taken down after so many years...

Same here. Imagine it: 11 years using my email, it's linked to every account I am registered with on the net and also everyone who knows me, contacts me to thta one. I have read that if your YT account is gone, your gmail stays alive regardless. The only link between my two YT accounts is the phone number that I used to verify my account. Both accounts were on my iphone YT app simultaneously as well but just in case I removed the one that is still active and now I only access to YT without logging in. Time will tell. As long as my gmail stays healthy, I'll be happy.
