I was Just listening too this little tune on youtube....Not a bad song, I like the vocals from both of them. The song never gets mentioned so always passed on it, but I actually like it. Another song outside of Queen I like From Freddie. I like his solo stuff. Even though Mr. BAD Guy was a weak album, it had some good songs as well. Now the haters will come after me... Tell me how horrible the song is haters! VH? |

But It's ok for certain people to start a thread about other members? Starting a thread Happystarr was clearly ok? Anyway, stay on topic....do you think it's a decent tune or no? I think it went top 10 in Germany. |
Saint Jiub 09.06.2018 04:43 |
You could have ignored my post, but instead put the focus on the overblown feud ... anyway, I will answer both of your questions: It is "clearly ok" to start a thread about a certain person who derailed the ABBA topic (and other topics) with his abusive unrelated rants (finally thankfully deleted) about the current lead singer of Queen. "Baby this song is something" (tolerable), but I think this song is too long and repetitive, and it might have been better to "Hold On" 'and fade out the song during the guitar solo. link |

Never heard it or of it. Probably won't bother either. And can the children present please stop with the petty digs at each other. Grow up. |

A nice little song that would've been right at home on AKOM. Gets a bit shouty towards the end but has enough little bits to keep it interesting. |
dave76 09.06.2018 12:55 |
It's on his 10CD/2DVD Solo Collection (2000). I've only listened to it a couple of times. It's okay but it's not a song i will listen to daily. |

Better than pain and pleasure. |

"Hold on" by Joe Dare & Freddie Mercury was a great song were Freddie exercised his vocals to great extent. Although the single was more popular in Germany and over the UK it never got released. I liked Freddie's other stuff like "Time" & "In my defence" |
mike hunt 10.06.2018 15:25 |
I agree.....I actually like most of his work outside of Queen...yea, Bad Guy didn't work out but like you said, Great Pretender, Time, In My Defense...Barcelona, even hold On was decent. Obviously " Queen were better together", but to say Freddie recorded all crap outside of Queen in my view is false. His vocals on "everyone Of Us" is one of his best with cliff Richard. |
Star* 10.06.2018 17:40 |
Mike: Yeah it is such a shame Freddie & Cliff were not captured on record as this was a very important collaboration in my opinion. I really wish Freddie had recorded with Paul McCartney back in the 80s because i admire Paul a lot and his band "Wings" were superb. |
MisterCosmicc 10.06.2018 21:07 |
I like the song but I talked to Jo before and she is strange. |
mike hunt 10.06.2018 23:36 |
She's active on youtube.....she actually commented on the video talking about her experience with Freddie and how they met. You should check that out...she has nothing but good things to say about Freddie. They met In Munich, she was working on songs in the studio when Freddie walked In. They became good friends. |

It's an ok song, which I quite liked. Freddie seemed to be at his best when he had people around him who could push him and get the best out of him. It's why Queen were so good, they got the best out of each other and therefore the band. happystar's list actually proves the point, they are all good songs but not really Freddie working solo, or writing solo. The Barcelona album is brilliant because he was working, and for part of it co writing with people of equal talent to his. Mr Bad Guy was written by him, the songs are good but the musical performances and production is almost dull in places because he had nothing to prove and no one to better him in the studio. |
mike hunt 11.06.2018 14:59 |
Of course.....That's like taking something away from Elton because he had someone write his lryics...Isn't that co writing with another talent? Of course he was better when recording with other talents instead of the crap musicans he picked for his solo album. We all know they were best together, but my only point is that I think his work outside of Queen was good. Not all crap like some say. Only some of it was crap like Let's Turn It On.....?? |
Vocal harmony 11.06.2018 15:13 |
I get your point about Elton John. But with Freddie wasn't just talking about song writing, it's how the songs were presented and the point at which solo Freddie (Mr Bad Guy album) judged the material to be as good as it could be compared to Barcelona which was very much a joint effort and so made him strive for more. Let's Turn It On . . . Yeah, but even that might have sounded better with Brian's guitar, a cohesive rhythm section and a more adventurous production. |
Holly2003 11.06.2018 15:29 |
In style, Mr Bad Guy (the song) wouldn't be out of place on The Miracle. It's really good, but let down like the rest of the album by very dated synths. Living on my Own is also very good, with Fred's trademark (1980s) scat singing and some excellent jazz-style piano. Not too keen on the lyric "I don't have no time for no monkey business", which I presume means Fred did have time for monkey business. |
dysan 11.06.2018 15:37 |
Mr Bad Guy seems to have been made to be kitch in the 21st Century. You can't buy that kind of value. |
Star* 11.06.2018 16:51 |
VH: You mentioned "Lets turn it on" and you stated that track would have sounded better with some guitar work from Brian, but Freddie stated he was trying to get away from the Queen sound and that is why he hired session musicians to play all instruments. |
mike hunt 11.06.2018 17:38 |
I think he tried his own thing on that album but failed...like Holly said, There are some songs I like on it like living On My Own, the title Track, love Me Like there's no Tomorrow. Other songs were great like Made In Heaven but felt rushed and sounded like a demo. The Queen version is beautiful. Barcelona I have no complaints... I Just wish it had a real orchestra With Freddie's vision, not the remake they did a few years ago that I didn't love. |
mooghead 11.06.2018 19:06 |
I dont get the Made In Heaven thing? It wasn't rushed and a lot of thought went into it, perhaps more than any other Queen album. It is different but does not deserve the vitriol. |
mike hunt 11.06.2018 19:33 |
Moog, I'm talking about Made In Heaven Freddie solo...on Mr. Bad Guy. I like Made In Heaven the album. It's in my top ten Queen albums. |
mooghead 11.06.2018 19:54 |

I love most of the tracks on Mr Bad Guy. Just a shame it sounds so dated compared to Queen albums. |
MisterCosmicc 13.06.2018 13:28 |
Dated? I don’t hear that part. It doesn’t sound like Van Halen |
Apocalipsis_Darko 15.06.2018 04:49 |
Mack said he was working with Jo Dare, and he thought she was a better artist than she was. Freddie went to the studio in Mack's birthday to bring him a cake, Mack told him about her music (also Freddie's friend from Munich years) and Freddie collaborated wroten the lyrics and sang with Jo. Mack composed the music |
