*** NOTE *** The "Unusual Collection" became the "Unusual Anthology". Please go to link for the updated volume. Thanks! This is a one-off! I had this idea a few weeks after the first five volumes. Over the years, I’ve ignored some material that I wasn’t too enthused about, namely Queen members’ collaborations with other artists. However, there’s some genuinely good and interesting work put into many tracks that deserve more attention. And more specifically, there are many Queen tracks played by both Queen members and other musicians, some of which have been recorded in the studio and others released as live tracks. This volume will focus exactly on that. Although this volume is pretty comprehensive (barring some better and more complete sources), a few tracks have been deliberately left out: Queen + The Muppets, Queen + Vanguard (these two don’t feature any new parts), Freddie Mercury 1992 tribute live tracks, Queen+ tracks from Greatest Hits III, many Kerry Ellis tracks, some other live appearances, etc. Still, here you have 3 hours of great music! TRACKLIST Updated tracklist here Now, every volume follows a set of unique rules, exceptions and requests. This is the reference guideline for "The Unusual Guests": COLLABORATIVE GUIDELINE – UNUSUAL GUESTS This is an open project for all Queen fans. Should you wish to help me modify and improve my collection for everyone to enjoy, please observe the following ideas: RULES: - Queen tracks featuring Queen members and guest stars. - There must be some new elements from Queen members (guitar work, lead vocals, etc.). - Only one version per track. EXCEPTIONS: - Some tracks may not have an officially released source, or it may be hard to track down. Unofficial sources are fine as long as the sound quality is the best available one. - Bonus tracks don't have to be fully compliant with the rules. The "fun" factor prevails. REQUESTS: - Pavarotti's performance in lossless / high bitrate quality. - Any other recording that follows the rules. - Higher quality and/or lossless sources for current files and future additions. Initially, when I thought about creating a collection with thematic volumes, I hadn’t thought of adding a sixth (or +) collaborations volume, but there’s plenty of goodness here and I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a compilation before, so here’s my contribution to the rarity scene once again. The fans who have overlooked these tracks because of prejudice may be in for a treat. Now, there’s only one thing left: to improve what I’ve already created. More on that very soon! :-) *** NOTE *** The attached link is down. Please go to link for the updated volume. Thanks! |

You could also add Never Let Her Slip Away by Andrew Gold. That has Freddie on Backing Vocals. Great list though mate! |

Note how all the tracks are actual Queen songs, while the ones you've mentioned are not. Those belong to a 150-200 non-Queen tracks collection that we'll hopefully compile the future. |

I see. So that also explains why Brian's appearance with Rick Wakeman on Starship Trooper was omitted too. Thanks for the heads up and for sharing this compilation! |

This is a great project and so nicely done! Congrats and thanks! Did you consider including Crazy Little Thing Called Love, by Diana Ross feat. Brian May? It's not a good one, but I think it fits the subject of this compilation. Cheers, Ogre- |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 01.06.2018 01:21 |
Oh, and if you wish to include a Queen+-+ (plus minus plus), you might want to consider Say It's Not True by Roger Taylor feat. Jeff Beck. :) Cheers, Ogre- |

It's track 36: Roger Taylor & Jeff Beck - Say It's Not True (2011-06-04 Wintershall Estate) Here's another one for you, in case you missed it! Wow, see? It really is a very nicely done compilation! Thank you very much! Sorry for not checking it right before making suggestions. Late night posting :) As for Queen minus, that is great! :D Thanks a lot for the mention! Congratulations and keep up the good work! Cheers, Ogre- |

Too much Watc and Wwry |

Kuijpy wrote: Too much Watc and WwryYeah, I agree, they're too popular compared to other songs. I almost left out half of them, but then I figured you can easily ignore the ones you don't care about, so I'll just leave them there. As a matter of fact, I discarded a number of versions (mostly lower quality recordings), and I think I could have included one or two more very popular ones but ultimately decided against it. I'll still do something about it though. |

Don't know about the music but the list is great. It reminds us there is no Queen band anymore, only a long list of collaborations between the two founding members and a lot of guests. Since the topic is "unusual", the most unusual thing to me in 2018 is still referring Brian and Roger as Queen - a band of two, a guitarist and a drummer, both mediocre vocalists (and mediocre composers in the absence of a highly creative environment), who spent the last decades not writing any new material and not hiring any new band members. But they own the music and the brand, that's true. Then maybe the whole issue is a legal one, and instead of listening to all this junk we should better read their contracts. |

I know these tracks may not be for every fan (I myself ignored many of them for years), but I think there's true brilliance in some of them. Check the guitar solos in TMLWKY (Momo Cortés version) and WATC (Robbie Williams version). WWRY with John Farnham is a novelty after the first half, and the second Foo Fighters track features a great Freddie Mercury impression by Taylor Hawkins. Brian sings a few lines in WWTLF (Jennifer Rush version). TATDOOL with Band Du Lac is a refreshing version too, and so is the well-known LOML (Extreme). Those are the highlights to me and there's more goodness in many other tracks, if you can appreciate it. Also, listen to the good doctor talking about how he composed '39 in 1976... |

No. Thank you, Barry and Panchgelis - "The Friends of Mr Canada". Since i've heard my "word salad" is so distasteful, i cherish any reply which does not mention my English limitations. |
