I was wondering if they could have brought back other songs instead of GKR and SCC. I was thinking of these songs: The Millionaire Waltz March Of The Black Queen White Queen Sweet Lady Im In Love With My Car Death On Two Legs If You Cant Beat Them Sleeping On The Sidewalk Ogre Battle |

Here's a list of tunes they rehearsed in 84: Great King Rat (longer version) Brighton Rock (full song) I'm In Love With My Car Sweet Lady White Man We Will Rock You (fast) Play The Game Need Your Loving Tonight Put Out The Fire Las Palabras de Amor Life Is Real (both Freddie solo piano and Freddie/Brian acoustic duet versions) |

I always liked Car live, it's great to see Roger steal the show from behind the kit. Would've been nice to see past the Game tour. |

OhioMustapha wrote: well I know they rehearsed these songs in Brussels but they didnt play them to an audience.Certainly not in Brussels. By that point they had done full tech rehearsals, and the rejected songs were long gone. Queen weren't like Springsteen with 80 songs and a giant rotating setlist. They rehearsed one show, and usually just changed around 1 or 2 songs from night to night. |

Can you imagine how awful Sweet Lady would've sounded in '84? |

The only song I'm really surprised they dropped is Keep Yourself Alive. It even suits Paul Rodgers' voice better than some of the songs they asked him to sing. |

I'm not sure how they developed the setlists with PR, but a telling remark in an interview with him at the time was that he didn't like singing "very wordy songs" and "preferred songs with space in them". I do know that during rehearsals he was having problems with Hammer to Fall, which may have led to the re arranged slow version. . |

Queen set lists were more exciting in foreign countries for there fans especially the japanese fans who got extra treats from the band. Uk got same old set lists and nothing special either! What disappointed me was songs never changed very much from one tour to another, the perennial anthems remained and they never explored songs they had ignored like "Who needs you" or "Funny how love is" |

Reminds me of a few years ago when someone was arguing with Bob about live killers and using Queenlive.ca's live killer analysis to prove him wrong. |

No, they were arguing with Guitar Hero ;-) |

Great to hear they have tried las palabras for the setlist during the works tour. Maybe it comes out for a anniversairy box of the works Did queen ever did a soundcheck for Keep passing the open windows ? Maybe there is a website where all the soundchecks over the years has been written down ? |

No idea if they ever tried Keep Passing the Open Windows. But apparently Long Away made it that far in early 77. |

I love the 1984 set list, my only change would be removing Edney's awful synthesiser solo and adding March of the Black Queen to the medley instead. |

The setlist and set were great. The lighting rig had a huge presence. Roger's use of electric pad/triggers wasn't good. The Keyboard solo grow out of an idea to play Machines or back to Humans, which they didn't rehearse and never played, but decided to use as a keyboard solo and extended break for Roger and Freddie, leading into Brian's solo. |

The works tour was incredible the lighting rig in my opinion was the best they have ever had, colourful creation a true rock n roll feel for Freddie to run around in his white leotard with black lightening stripe ! Today's lighting on Queens tour in my opinion is not as impressive as lighting rigs gone by in the past, i find there is no ambience but there again that is probably because it aint a proper band anymore. |

As far as ambiance goes, how can you comment on that when you haven't been to any of the current shows to experience the ambiance? You do know the meaning of the word? While on the subject of the bands lighting, which you haven't seen live so haven't experienced properly, this rig is the most advanced they have ever used. Rob Sinclair, the guy who designed it, is one of if not the best guy in the industry at the moment. The Works rig was stunning for its time, but it used old, even by 1984, lighting technology and was designed to primarily wash the stage in colour, and as you know it could be raised and lowered. The current rig, both over head halo and vertical wall contain modern intelligent lighting units all of which can change colour, focus and direction. The halo rig its self can be raised lowered and tilted back, forward and side to side. The lighting crew chief and crew are pretty amazing at their job too, but you wouldn't know any of this because you have never been to a show. . . . The only ambience your in touch with is the empty space in your head. |

The Works tour is a weird one for me. GREAT set, interesting setlist (early on) but they sound tired and going through the motions. Probably moreso than the VERY tired sounding and static Magic Tour. |
