Hi all!
I'm having a couple of ideas to share in the next few weeks, and I'd love some cooperation on this one to obtain the best results.
I think there must be a good number of tracks that have been shared here over the last few years that deserve to be compiled. I grabbed some of them by C_Matt, CMI and Vicspec for my Unusual Collection volume 4 because they're very interesting mixes worth our while. It's a shame that they were shared only once in the past, then lost to time while deserving more attention. So how about creating a fan mix compilation with the best of the best?
Queenzone's Defining Awesome made a cool raw mix of "Killer Queen" that could very well be in such a compilation, but I'm sure there have to be many more tracks that deserve to be revisited and enjoyed once again. So, what are your favorite fan mixes? Please post links!
Sounds like a great idea Golden Salmon. Your recent rare item compilation was very enjoyable.
There's a compilation of some of my mixes here: link
They are mashups, remixes and restoration attempts that have appeared in this forum over the years. I'll outline the contents in a dedicated post. See you there.
I've saved many fan mixes from over the years. I could compile a really good mix. What's an ideal length? Keep it cd length? 20 tracks? 40? There's actually a lot of worthy stuff that's not PiotreQ. His mixes are awesome as everybody knows and deserve (and have) album length issues of their own. I have stuff going back almost 10 years. And yes, Long Away (Herr von Keils 1983 Zodiacal Dust Cloud Remix) is the absolute bomb! That's a no brainer.

That would be wonderful! Please do :-)
I don't think there is much of a point nowadays for CD-length compilations, since the legacy support imposes hard limits on content. I would however try to keep it theme-based, with any kind of criteria: 70s stuff, restored tracks, new elements in old songs, multitrack mixes... you name it. But that's just my opinion and not the only valid approach.
