*** NOTE *** The "Unusual Collection" became the "Unusual Anthology". Please go to link for the updated volume. Thanks! Today's upload is "The Unusual Shares" (version 1.0). This volume contains many recordings that have been shared over the last decade among collectors and on the Internet. There’s a chance you might have missed some of these if you haven’t kept up with the scene, so here’s a convenient compilation. It omits widely shared tracks such as “Silver Salmon”, “Polar Bear”, “Feel Like”, “Feelings”, the Freddie Mercury - Michael Jackson demos, etc. since those first appeared roughly 15 years ago, although I’m aware more complete and higher quality versions have surfaced later on. It is hard to tell whether some sources are lossless or not because of their unknown lineage. TRACKLIST Updated tracklist here * - Not featured at Queenvault.com, ultimatequeen.co.uk, or both. I use (as many other fans do) these excellent sites for reference of track information. However, I've realised that I may be sharing some things that haven't been listed at these sites and, in my humble opinion, they're worth documenting. ^ - Restored and/or lossy source. I have a focus on sound quality too. I've restored some of these tracks myself where I couldn't find a higher quality version. Some FLAC tracks were converted from less friendly formats while others were fixed in a number of ways, and these modifications will be described. You can find more information about each track in the attached document. I'll give credit to the original sources where possible. Now, every volume follows a set of unique rules, exceptions and requests. This is the reference guideline for "The Unusual Shares": COLLABORATIVE GUIDELINE – UNUSUAL SHARES This is an open project for all Queen fans. Should you wish to help me modify and improve my collection for everyone to enjoy, please observe the following ideas: RULES: - Any rare, unreleased recording from any source (no officially released material). - This is a year 2018 compilation. The aim is to compile whatever surfaced in the last decade, although some flexibility is expected. EXCEPTIONS: - Some older shares have been upgraded in the last few years. It is OK to include them, but other tracks will be prioritized over widely shared recordings, whether they are higher quality or slightly more complete. - Bonus tracks don't have to be fully compliant with the rules. The "fun" factor prevails. REQUESTS: - Any other recording that follows the rules. - Higher quality and/or lossless sources for current files and future additions. I’ve been following the scene on and off for the last few years. Once in a blue moon, some friends told me about new rarities whenever they surfaced and even today I keep thinking: “I probably missed a few nice ones.”. With a little bit of luck, perhaps you found something in this volume you never heard before! That's all for today! See you tomorrow with Volume 4: "The Unusual Mixes"! EDIT: Volume 4 is in the "Fan mixes" section. Link here! *** NOTE *** Please go to link for the updated volume. Thanks! |

DISCLAIMER: I am aware of the number of tracks that are/were officially available. There will be nothing too recent in this collection that isn't freely and easily available today (through official channels or otherwise, difference being these are downloads rather than streams). Other fans in this site have shared similar status material in their own compilations, but I'll remove anything in order to comply with copyright. Also, it is worth clarifying what I’m trying to do with my compilations: What this collection actually is: - A project made for fun (first and foremost). - A COLLABORATIVE project. You are welcome to discuss, improve and even complain! (Within reason) I'm fully open to remove, revise and rebuild this compilation from the ground up, for the sake of keeping it interesting. Also, please report any mistakes you find regarding dates, typos and whatnot. - A compilation of unusual (your mileage may vary!) recordings. - A different, more original kind of compilation than previous ones with some twists, again, for the sake of fun. - A collection aimed at newish fans to the band, or fans who are familiar with every Queen and solo album but never really delved deep into the sea of alternative Queen versions and rarities. And fans in general, of course. - A modest effort to restore some tracks. What this collection is NOT: - A comprehensive, rigorous compilation of rarities. - An "anything goes" file dump. There are rules and quality standards, however loose they may be. (This is an amateur effort!) - Something meant to blow expert collectors away. I wish! - A CD-friendly format. Only one, maybe two of the 1.0 versions may actually fit on a single CD, and there's no artwork provided as of today. Also, some 48 kHz tracks must be downsampled for that purpose. - A painstaking effort to provide the absolute best of the best quality for all recordings. |

Is it me or did Cool Cat have that buzzing noise you hear when you put your phone near a radio, and the phone receives a call? I heard it at the end of the song at the right speaker. That aside, I love the compilation! Nice to have these rare nuggets in one package! |

You just can't remove that without messing with the stereo mix, so that's how it remains. I'm sure that noise is intentional, but what can you do. The same happens with "You Are The Only One". However, I could remove that convincingly on top of cleaning up the audio. |

Oh it's fine. I actually found it funny that it made me reach for my phone when i heard that! |

@dave76 EXACTLY!!! How can be sure that tracks 5,6 and 7 aren't fakes ? |
Defining Awesome 03.05.2018 18:35 |
There is a version of Take Two where somebody made the track mono from about 3:25 till the end of the sound but it kinda ruins the sound, a bit of a bummer I kinda have to skip the end of the song :p. |
gioscana 03.05.2018 19:40 |
Thanks !!! |

MercurialFreddie wrote: @dave76 EXACTLY!!! How can be sure that tracks 5,6 and 7 aren't fakes ?I'm 99% sure they're genuine. Also, there are at least 5 regular members here, off the top of my head, that could verify this. There is a little something else I haven't shared, but we'll see in the next few weeks. I hesitated at first about including those, but since they're very old, just excerpts and the quality was artificially downgraded (they're most certainly samples the original collector must have used to secure a trade for other valuable rarities), I don't think they have actual trade value, so there they are. |

Thanks for this. Regarding the jam session known as Back to Storm, the lyrics are clearly "You're coming on far too strong". The "back to" bit is is misheard lyric. Not your fault of course! Thanks again. |

"Is it me or did Cool Cat have that buzzing noise you hear when you put your phone near a radio, and the phone receives a call? I heard it at the end of the song at the right speaker. " Yes it was David Bowie receiving a call on his mobile |
