Hello everybody! I recently got a tape from a fellow Queen fan from Sweden I got to know on a different Queen forum. The tape contains the recording of Queen's concert in Lund in 1974. I have listened to the concert various times and I'm pretty sure it's not a fake. The only problem is: I do have a tape deck but I don't know how to transfer the content of the tape to a digital format so that I can share it on here- I probably don't have the right equipment for transferring the tape either. Help would be apprechiated. |

the easy way to transfer a tape into a PC, is downloading a software of recording on internet (like 'Audacity') and with a audio cable ( link ) you connect one side into the headphones of the tape deck that you have, and the other side into the microphone slot of your computer. You open the software, and start recording from the audio card, and you press the play buttom of the tape deck. |

You need a recording interface (mine is a Focusrite Scarlett), and any number of digital audio programs will do, such as Audacity, as "Freddie rey" just mentioned.
However..
with a audio cable you connect one side into the headphones of the tape deck that you have, and the other side into the microphone slot of your computer.... this method will almost certainly result in a mono transfer. To get a stereo transfer, your cassette deck should have separate (usually RCA) outputs for each channel, which are then plugged into two 1/4" input channels on a recording interface. If you want a cheaper/easier option, it may be best to just take it to a high-end audio place and they will safely do the transfer for you. Even better, there are plenty of people on this forum you could send the tape to and they could do the transfer. Where are you located? |

Hey John. I live in The Netherlands as well and i have a cassette USB deck. If doesn't work out at your end you can consider sending it to the south of the country and i will transfer it here for you and everybody else to enjoy. I believe these tapes fits in a small envelope with the cost of maybe around 1 euro. |

All computers have onboard audio ("recording interface"), so you don't need a separate recording interface for this task. Just check your devices and look for a cable that matches the requirements of both ends. Good luck! The only development so far, albeit in the wrong direction, occurred when "I do have a tape deck" became "...as soon as I have access to my tape deck again", whatever this means. I just hope the story is genuine, but it smells like a Dutch adaptation of the same classic play, set in early 70's Sweden this time. |

There are perfectly fine single plug stereo-to-stereo cables out there. Mono plug-tip has one ring, stereo has two. One end goes into the headphones out of your tapedeck, the other one straight into your onboard soundcard (usually coloured pink or preferably blue) |

Ok, so I got a cable (which is stereo, I believe) and I'm gonna do the tape transfer tomorrow when I have access to my tape deck again. To answer some of your questions: Freddie doesn't mention being in Lund during the concert but he does say something in Swedish before he announces the medley. |

Hey. The people who are acting like dicks are the minority and not the majority. Many people here are just here to enjoy the music. Memeoverlord wasn't being hurtfull with what he said, he just told a truth, sometimes people turn out to be trolls. You shouldn't deny people a chance at a rare recording because some guys want to act like pricks. I, for example would be extremely greatful for a new recording, and so would most others here. The chances of a sample being shared are probably zero, no doubt because the OP does not have one. What he does have however is some inside information and a grudge, which may well be founded. It was said that it's silent black and white footage, and that there are even some pre-show shots from backstage.
