If you have any footage of Queen at Wembley in 1984, please let me know or send me a link. |
The Real Wizard 27.04.2018 00:24 |
Unfortunately none has ever popped up. There is, however, footage from Stuttgart and Vienna a few weeks later. |
Sweet Rhapsody 27.04.2018 01:31 |
No, but exist footage from Brussels in 36mm, (I hope the band had filmed all show). |
OhioMustapha 27.04.2018 02:14 |
Sweet Rhapsody it is unconfirmed, but parts of the Hammer To Fall video were filmed live at Brussels in 1984. |

Ive seen the TV report with the bits of TYMDm, but never seen the UP and the STL. |

Was at the venue that night with no tickets, hoping to buy from touts, but they were asking £70 each ! And we couldn't afford 2. My wife insisted I get 1 and she'd wait outside, but I wouldn't and lo, Freddie goes past in his roller! - at least that was memorable. Seen Al Pacino the next or maybe 2 nights, later at the duke of York's theatre in 'American Buffalo' got photos, shook his hand and an autographed programme. Quite a weekend. |
OhioMustapha 28.04.2018 14:39 |
Master marathon runner do you regret not getting the ticket? If i was there, I would have taken it. |
Star* 28.04.2018 16:16 |
I saw Queen in the Uk at the Birmingham NEC back in sept 1984 and they were on fire ! Awesome show and they surprised the fans by playing "Great king rat" |
master marathon runner 28.04.2018 17:40 |
Of course I regretted it O.H. - but I done the right thing, couldn't lea 've my young wife on the streets of London for a couple of hours. The £70 price was for a , less than a tenner ticket, that was quite a hike in those days |
OhioMustapha 28.04.2018 22:54 |
happystar did you go on September 1st or another day? If you did go on the 1st I have some jealousy(no pun intended) because at that concert, Brian May did the solo from Dead On Time during the improv section from KYA. |

OhioMustapha : Well 1984 was a very long time ago and i think Queen only did a couple of shows at Birmingham NEC and to be really honest i cannot remember what the date was that we went but it was awesome. Freddie wearing his white ballet suit with black flashes on it ! One thing i did note was how colourful the lighting rig was and it certainly enhanced all the excitement. |
OhioMustapha 30.04.2018 00:41 |
thats cool! |

Is it true they planned record live album at that time but they gave up due to Freddie's voice? |

Art Lawyer wrote: Is it true they planned record live album at that time but they gave up due to Freddie's voice? This 1989 Record Collector magazine article says the UK shows were recorded. Sources close to the band have since denied it... |
Art Lawyer 02.05.2018 22:05 |
Even if they weren't recorded these concerts, we have very good recordings from that time, so we don't need official release. Thank you for answer! |
musicland munich 03.05.2018 05:06 |
The fucking hoarders have it, at least in in extracts. |
AlexRocks 08.05.2018 01:29 |
This would be "Arena" not "Stadium" for clarification purposes. |

All the responses to a juvenile newby who has never expressed 'why' they are so interested or fascinated with the footage (if they are juvenile in age). Sorry, but after all of these years, I'm surprised at the quick replies to some individuals who may not merit any answers due to their short history and apparent obnoxious behavior. |
OhioMustapha 10.05.2018 01:19 |
if your asking why I asked if there was footage, it's because I saw some video of Brian May sitting down and saying, "Sorry, its his birthday hes gone home." and he says that at Wembley 1984. |

I was fortunate enough to be at all 4 Wembley Arena shows on this tour. First two of which i was second row front and centre, Mix up in ordering tickets from fan club resulted in me having to walk round London ticket offices to get one for 3rd date which i managed but seat was side view. Had to buy from a tout for 4th night and best i could get was front balcony to rear right. Loved the shows, some issues with the rig at points ( think it was Freddies Birthday ) took a different friend with me for 1st, 2nd and 4th shows all hardcore Yes/Genesis fans seeing Queen for the first time. Glad to say they admitted to being blown away by the whole show and had a new respect for the band after seeing them live. Also went to Paris on same tour atmosphere far better than Wembley. Happy memories |
bradbobly 21.08.2018 13:18 |
On another note i remember on coming out of the 3rd show when heading back to the station a guy was selling bootleg tapes of the second night. 2 TDK tapes for £10 which was a lot of money back then. Listened on the guy's headphones to make sure i was not buying a blank tape and sounded good quality so i purchased. He gave me 2 tapes from another batch and as i boarded the train it dawned on me i still could have bought 2 blank tapes. Thankfully when we got back to the car and popped them in they worked. Think i still have them somewhere in the attic ( no cassette player though lol ) An expensive tour with 4 shows in London 1 in Paris 2 T shirts and a programme plus transport travel and food but worth every penny of my hard earned savings at the time Seen loads of great bands since but nothing compares to Queen live |

badbobly : Ah great post and yeah i saw Queen live on there amazing Magic Tour back in 1986 and that was a great show at Newcastle St James football grounds. Going back to 1984 i also saw Freddie & the boys at Birmingham NEC in septemeber 1984 and was amazed when they treated us all to a rare Queen gem "Great king rat" Freddie looked awesome in his white leotard with black lightening flash! As you say great special memories which us ardent fans will treasure forever ! |
Thistle 21.08.2018 15:25 |
You were 10 when you saw them at Birmingham in 1984? Who took you, and did they get any good photos? |
Star* 21.08.2018 15:29 |
Thistleboy No i was not 10 i was 20 actually lol It was a brilliant concert. |
Thistle 21.08.2018 15:32 |
LOL, it's that 44 confusion again. So you're 54/55, then. Did you get photos? Always great to see new snaps of the band :) |
Star* 21.08.2018 15:37 |
Nah never took a camera because my brother and i were upstairs to the left of the stage and the band looked so small like insects. It was only till i saw Queen in 86 did i get up front to the stage and saw Queen close up and i was in awe of it all. |
Thistle 21.08.2018 15:45 |
Magic ;) |
Star* 21.08.2018 15:49 |
Yeah to see Brian & Freddie come to edge of the stage where i was was electric for me, i had only seen them close up on video and here they were larger than life under my nose -wow ! |

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww that footage of Freddie was awesome and reminds us all that is how it should be done. Queen were not the biggest band on the planet back then for nothing, cos they had Freddie on board! Brill. |
Marlamir 21.08.2018 19:00 |
Yes, that's Vienna. Video is from Vienna 84 but audio from Wembley 84. |

bradbobly wrote: Think i still have them somewhere in the attic ( no cassette player though lol )Curious to hear them, as they could be a different source from what we've heard before. If you're open to it, there are plenty of people in the UK you could send the tapes to, and they could transfer it to digital. |
bradbobly 23.08.2018 06:12 |
If i can find them, happy to send to whoever. I have lots of crap stored away in boxes and in truth it's really getting the time to go look. Will see what i can sort out |

I only asked because I was having a very similar conversation with him only yesterday concerning Wembley Arena '84 and a tape he had mislayed. Thought it must be you, but just a weird coincidence then. |
bradbobly 23.08.2018 13:01 |
No worries, hope he finds the tape he is looking for. |

Hopefully he will. If you find your tapes and happen to live in the London area, I could make a transfer for you. Just drop me a PM. |

Ok will do...thanks. It would be unlikely they have been thrown out, more likely stored in a box and tucked away in the deepest , darkest confines of my attic. Problem i have is the time to start a search if i am honest, but i have a few things i must look to find and probably sell. I have a couple of signed items that are gathering dust somewhere. One of which is a signed hat from the Radio Ga-Ga video shoot i went to ( Freddie, Roger and Brian signatures ) so really must try and make a better effort...lol |
