If Freddie was still alive and didn't die in 1991, beside continuing with Queen, what would you have liked him do?
I would have like to see him do theatrical musicals, like Phantom of the Opera, Evita, etc.
If Freddie hadn't got ill I really don't think Queen would have continued much passed The Magic tour. At least not in a full time capacity.
I think Freddie would have drifted slightly from project to project. He had already started doing so with Mr Bad Guy, The Great Pretender and Barcelona. I think he was beginning to lose interest in Queen and would have pursued more solo projects.
Bob Harris addressed this subject in Queen Rock the World documentary
Freddie's reply, in 1977, was interesting..his solo album would have Brian, Roger and John!
How things change. There was obviously a point where a schism happened, my guess is around 1982 when Brian and Roger were unhappy at the rouse Queen were taking hence The Works album; more guitars and rock orientated and Mr Bad Guy diverging in style
Freddie's health circumstances brought the band closer and the combined writing credit reinforced that
Had that not been the case, the outcome is anyone's guess but there was clearly a difference in Freddie's interests and those of the band
My guess is that a role in a musical would not be of interest to Freddie (wasn't he offered a part on broadway at some point and declined)
There is some interesting music on Brian's and Roger's solo projects which would have made great Queen tracks; maybe those would have made a subsequent album...
It's a pity there was no Miracle tour, there was talk of a one off special (Brian and Roger on rock line radio) but, given the amount of money offered to legacy bands like Queen on the touring circuit these days, I doubt Freddie could have resisted!
He was offered a part on Broadway. The story goes that it was the role of a Phantom and it was offered by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Freddie declined as the payment offered by ALW was scandalously low.
Time and collaboration with Dave Clark shows that he had interest in a musical world.
Maybe he would release his solo project VOl II and then the next Queen album. The worst thing is, that we will, sadly, never know...
I didn't know he had an offer for Phantom. Thanks for the info, I don't know everything about Queen and Freddie and the other guys, that's why I'm eager to learn more. I love their music, love Freddie's voice, know a lot more than someone who just likes Queen.
My question was what would YOU have liked to see Freddie do. I loved him with Monserrat, that's why I would have liked him to do more classical music or theatrical musicals.

Blog 19 - Ask Phoebe ;
Andrew asked about Freddie auditioning for ‘Phantom of the Opera’.
It didn’t happen, so, no, there are no existing demos that people haven’t heard. He was asked once by Joseph Papp, the New York producer, to audition for the role of Rodolfo in a production of Puccini’s La Boheme that he was going to mount in Central Park. You can guess Freddie’s reaction…. ME, audition? Also Freddie said he wouldn’t go back to singing seven shows a week, he had finished that in the 70s!
I would have liked to have seen Freddie take up Michael Crawford's mantle, not only in the role of the Phantom in "Phantom Of The Opera", but also in the role of Frank Spencer in the revival of "Some Mothers Do Ave Em".

Oooo Deaky, Roger's just done a whoopsie on the carpet.
Well if he were alive I would have liked them to do The Miracle tour and the Innuendo tour, but besides Queen I think he could be a judge on shows like X Factor or American Idol.
Miracle and Innuendo Tours would be a great couple to hear!
I would have also wanted to see Freddie doing some colloborations with electronic or prog metal bands of 2000's. In terms of his vocal involvment firstly.
They might have split up. And rejoin years later on. Without John, that is. Think he was fed up with it all but Freddie's condition kept him on board till the end.
Oh man, how we all miss him. Creative, funny, excellent singer, great showman. One of a kind.
