1. My clear number one is Live at Wembley from the official DVD. The moment when he comes on stage with his arms lifted like a football player who just scored a goal is pure magic. Especially this rear shots when you see the crowd in front of him. 2. I also like the one from "Queen on fire at the Bowl". Coming on to "The hero" is not wrong for him. Great energy there. |

Hyde park 1976 and presumably the rest of the opera tour with the exception of hammersmith. The whole "rising from the ashes" thing to start the rock section of bo rhap |

Queen weren't a singer. It's a band |
Chief Mouse 26.02.2018 18:58 |
Correct, but everyone's eyes were mostly on Freddie. Surely everyone in the band was also aware of that. Anyway, I agree about Wembley, it was pretty damn cool! http://www.mediafire.com/convkey/147e/rcns7d2sq3f2vqv7g.jpg" border="0" alt="Simple, Free Image and File Hosting at MediaFire" /> . |

V.H I think many people have established that Queen are a group and not a singer, so please stop patronising everyone on here and calm down. |

Chief Mouse: Spot on! That stance in those surroundings at that moment. Awsome really :) |

For me it's Milton and Hyde Park. Fredie was the heart of Queen |

I think Wembley, live Aid, and I like his 74 Rainbow entrance. Live At The Bowl with The Hero was great as well. I think The Hero would have made a good single in America, It's the sound people from the US remember them for. |

...Stafford bingley hall in '78 was memorable. ...lights go down ...dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum dum --' Here I stand' .. (Freddie appearing under single spotlight momentarily ) then blackness again........' look around around around arounnnnd' - Freddie again under spotlight at the other side of stage and the crowd going absolutely apeshit! Cue involuntary mass surge forward by something like 20,000 fans ....' but you won't see me' -- you get the picture I'm sure, then eventually - full light, screaming sirens and guitars and mass hysteria and a mix of unbridled joy and adrenalin -- 'Just a new man...........' Priceless memory. Absolutely priceless. |

Yes Freddie was the master when it came to making an entrance! |
Vocal harmony 27.02.2018 13:59 |
Mike Hunt, you're off again aren't you. You're small minded wit completely missed the point of my post. Through the 80's a lot of media started calling Queen Freddie Mercury and Queen. They were never a backing band to a singer. Cliff Richard and The Shadows is a different dynamic to The Who, Led Zeppelin or Queen. Genisis were treated the same in some quarters, Phil Collins and Genisis. . . Yes Freddie made some great entrances but they were part of a bigger picture, perhaps beyond your comprehension. Duh! |

You insulted Mike with your comments : "Your small minded wit completely missed the point" Have you checked out your own twisted personality lately? Good thread. Good entrances. |

I enjoyed every entrance made by Freddie, knebworth was pretty special.Being disabled I always felt quite emotional when the band came on as it was not always easy getting to concerts.Things are getting better now which is good,in fact I am going to a show next week to see the streophonics. |

Philip Storey: Great post and yeah Looking back at Queens last couple of concerts, i can understand how you get emotional watching Freddie make his grand entrance in that bright yellow jacket, for what nobody knew at that point was that Queen would never be on tour with Freddie ever again after the Magic Tour! So so sad. Poor Freddie found those shows hard work and after every show i read somewhere where he told someone he was never going on stage ever again as it was too much. The Hiv illness was kicking in at that point i am sure. |
on my way up 28.02.2018 09:48 |
Actually, Rock in Rio the first night is quite impressive. It's a pity we don't have great sounding/looking audio/footage of that Tear it up because he really tears it up... The way he completely gives his all with both his voice and his body (incredible amounts of energy) is stunning. |
Star* 28.02.2018 10:25 |
On my way up : Yeah the amount of energy Freddie had when he was a fit guy was astounding. The Montreux Rock festival 1984 was on example, when Fred comes to perform "Tear it up" he puts his heart into that performance! Not many performers have ever gave there all in there performances but Freddie always wanted to impress the audiences! He always had the hairs standing on the back of my neck all the time, he was fantastic! |
Vocal harmony 28.02.2018 12:36 |
That wasn't a full set, and I don't think it counts as a live performance as it was mimed. Your esrlier comment directed at me with regard to my post to Mike. Maybe you should read my original post, then his reply. His clearly thinly veiled attempt to belittle is clear. . He has taken that route before, rather than enter into a conversation to find out the thoughts behind a post. |

We know Queen was a band and not a singer, but a lot of foreign fans think Freddie is the Queen. On a lot of foreign import Cds they call the band "The Queen" Does annoy me but that is how they go on over there! |
mike hunt 28.02.2018 15:58 |
My point was we know Queen was a band...and you were trying too hint that Happystar is a Freddie fan not a Queen fan. Again trying too start an argument, I'm getting tired of seeing you do that. We all know how talented the band is. |
Marlamir 28.02.2018 16:49 |
hyde park 76 is my personal favourite but i need to mention slane castle 86 entrance as well. enter stage with crown on his head was f*cking cool. |
Vocal harmony 28.02.2018 17:00 |
How can what I said having anything to do with happystar. My post that you replied to was the third one in the this thread. I was just making the point, which I later went on to explain. As I said before your reply made no attempt to question why, you just posted an insult. Anyone who does that will get short change from me. Despite what happystar may think, or you, I'm not anti Freddie, but I'm also open to what Queen do now. When he was calling himself Gerry we fell out after he called me a dick head because I said I enjoyed what Queen+AL were doing. I've been a fan since 74, I work in the live music industry and if someone doesn't like the fact I enjoy a certain incarnation of a particular band it's there problem not mine. If people were less judgmental then there would be more space for discussion |
Star* 28.02.2018 17:17 |
Vocal Harmony: You hit the nail on the head because you are very judgemental to everyone on here. Next you will be telling us all that James Arthur has more talent than Freddie ! |

mike hunt 12.03.2018 02:14 |
Oh my lord....let me tell you people something...I tried being nice and say nice things about Queen/Lambert, but watching this concert they did recently is so horribly embarrassing. I once said Lambert fits Queen better than Rodgers. How wrong was I? Seeing Lambert do his Killer Queen routine made me cringe. Watching these guys play together made me think of one thing....when are Brian and Roger going too retire the Queen name? Is this how They're going out? I'm not bashing anyone, I'm also not saying everything was perfect in those 20 years with Fred and John (Hot Space). They had some downs, but this whole Lambert thing is so wrong on so many levels. |
Star* 12.03.2018 10:31 |
Mike Hunt: Yes you are right, Queen with Adam Lambert looks so awkward to watch and May & Taylor have scraped the bottom of the barrel this time! If they had any common sense they would have gracefully retired the Queen name in respect of John & Freddie and think of a new name for there appalling combo of Adam, Brian & Roger. The Magic of Queen in concert stopped after that final Knebworth gig back in 1986 and it was a massive mistake to think Queen could carry on without Freddie & John. The whole show now is a dogs dinner. |
mike hunt 12.03.2018 12:32 |
And I don't care if tickets are selling, lots of kids like Lambert because he's young and good looking not because he's a great rock singer and writer. If that's the case Justin Bieber would be better than Hendrix and The Who. I personally don't know how anyone could defend this. |
Star* 12.03.2018 14:30 |
Its so sad because many fools do not know what talent is these days. Years ago in the 70s you had to prove you had talent otherwise you would end up getting know where, you had to show case and sell yourself, but today they go on these hyped talent shows and get money left right and centre thrown at them and then there is all the hype and marketing to make believe they are stars, just look at James Arthur, a typical homophobic thug druggie, who got all the hype and support from Simon Cowell, but he is truly talentless. Adam Lambert is no better. |
