I don't think that's the way to look at it although I can understand why it would seem that way.
In my opinion it works like this: Lots of information on Queen and Freddie is widely available and accessible. A complete timeline can be build fairly quickly using only wiki for instance.
But, the period you are talking about will stay a bit of a mystery to new fans. Sure, albums came out, work was done, but Queen became very private for reasons we all know. Even the most die hard fans don't know everything about what went on in that period of time. We will also probably never know when exactly Freddie told the band he had Aids. I think this is one of the main reasons this period is more interesting to so called newbies.
Apart from that, that period was the beginning of the end, and the end, for Freddie Mercury. He still made music and some of that music was inspired by the situation(s) they were all in at the time. A dying artist who still made beautiful music, was incredibly brave, only made the situation public a day before he died etc All together it makes for quite an interesting story and time period of mystery, bravery and swan songs so to speak.
So in short, that's why I think it looks like newbies are only interested in that period. Makes sense to me.
Stick. That’s a perfect intelligent response to this forum by an author who has been nothing but a troll on everything I’ve ever posted. I became a fan late in Queen years. When Freddie passed I was in 7th grade in NY. Queen was not a big thing. Once he passed they played a lot of his songs and I became interested. Now I’m 39 and interested in reading about Freddie’s life. According to This author , that’s wrong to do , but lions pay no mind to the opinions of sheep. Enjoy your day
