There's a few groups who'll tell you that Epperson is no expert on Queen signatures, and he's been well tested out on it. To me, the Radio Ga Ga doesn't look good, despite what Epperson apparently says. I agree with POTS that the others are good. At those prices, you'll struggle regardless of the authenticity. This is not a dig, just my opinion.
Thank you for your opinions. If you could suggest an expert in Queen autographs to contact with him - I would be very thankful. I'm confused that you doubt in the authenticity of my Radio Ga Ga.
I doubt in the authenticity of your Radio Ga Ga because the signatures all look like they've been done by the same hand - same size, same pressure on the paper etc. I know that no-one's signatures are the same 100% of the time, but there's several inconsistencies between these and examples I've seen from people who got their items signed in person. The flick in the "M" of "Mercury, for instance, is not something you'd normally see and the "F" is completely inconsistent with ones that I know are genuine. The B in Brian looks bad, too - and the "May" looks like "M-lay". It looks as though the beginning of the M has missed he rest and then whoever has written it has gone back to connect it later. That's not something most folk would do and it's shakiness and lack of fluency suggests that it's a forgery rather than the writing of someone who knows their own signature. That said, it's an attempt by someone who knows the real signatures rather than some of the shite fakes of fakes of fakes you see on eBay.
If these signatures had the provenance that you say they have, why not include it in the listing? With photo proof?
@ Penetration_Guru: Roger Epperson is someone who is supposed to be an expert in music signatures. His site is link
He takes $15 just to glance at an item and tell you if it's "likely" genuine. That's not him agreeing that it 100% is.
In order to get a full authentication from him, it's anything from $75-150 and the person requesting his service must send the item to him. If I had paid some guy that kind of money for a letter to say my item was real, I'd be including it in my listing.
Freddie_Bulsara, check your items with these guys link
Disclaimer: NO-ONE can really claim to now an item's authenticity 100% unless signed in front of them. Even the "experts". The reason I trust these guys is that they've been collecting for years and focus on just Queen, whereas others have a more general knowledge. I'm not saying they'll be 100% all of the time, but they are a very knowledgeable lot and take a lot into consideration. They research, compare with things they've had signed in person etc and generally make good calls on items.
Note they've already discussed your items and have come to the same conclusion I have here.
Thank you, Thistleboy1980, for your post. I personaly don't doubt in their originality because of my own feel about them. I don't imagine how it is possible to fake all 4 signatures by one hand. As you noted, autographs of each member pretty vary - even then they are being put the same day during one autograph session! A consideration about ''the neatness'' of all 4 signatures - there is nothing strange if they were placed in a quiet time (in a dressing room and not ''on the run'').
I will need time to make my own comparison with lots of Queen 1985-1987 autographs. But if Queen community came to conclusion that they are not original it will be difficult to come out with arguments. I will stop my selling of this autograph till then.
Also we need keep in mind the difference of signatures placed by a marker and a pen - we know how our own marker's handwritings on greeting cards are different and more beautiful than those by a pen.
Someone who practices all day will eventually do a convincing set, but like I say, this one has too many inconsistencies. I've been caught out before, but there are so many going for big money now that everyone needs to be extra vigilant. When you're duped, you always try to see positives in a signature and go into denial. I hope I've not upset you. I'm in no way implying you've done this yourself or would knowingly sell fakes...the others are genuine without a doubt.
Thanks for taking into consideration what's been said and taking the item off sale for the time being.
