It's not being positive at all, sweetcaroline. It comes across as spam, and you add very little to the discussion...unless you want to try to insult me again. Not only are you throwing out unhelpful claims of homophobia with jackshit to back it up, you have became personal with me. Everything from that I helped you to be banned from QOL, that I'm stalking, to that you think I'm jealous and not a true fan and more besides. I guess all the this you wanted to say to me on QOL come out here, cause you know full well you wouldn't get away with it over there. I tried to give you support when I read that you are banned from QOL, but you even lashed out about that. One thing I was hoping, is you would have least tried different tactics that you used on QOL. But no, you must promote, defend, praise AL no matter what. Again, that's not postive, that's your head n the sand. Yes, you are such a fan of Freddie's and Queen's (sarcasm, because it's clear to anyone who has ever read your posts here and on QOL know that you are an AL fan only) that you can't be bothered to ever discuss them much, irony or ignorance. Queen has a legacy sweetcaroline, one that you are short sighted about. |

I had fun. Despite having growing animosity towards Glambert because of SweetCaroline flooding the forum. He was good. I had seen Q+PR in 2005 and 2008 and I am not going to say that those were better or worse. The main difference was that with Glambert they seem to be embracing putting on a bigger show with glam and campish humor which I do enjoy. I am indebted to "Voice of Reason 2014" who gave me a pre-sale link that made it possible for me to get a great ticket. I was right at the front though it would have been better to have been at either side of the catwalk. Also, met very nice people which made the show even better, |

SweetCaroline wrote: “Thoughts: ??Great, people on social media liked the show. I see this online all the time; people declaring themselves as bands' "number one fan" and saying they saw the "best show ever" last night when it's about the fifth gig of their life. (Another good one is when people start a review of their show saying how close they were to the stage. I digress...). I vividly recall leaving that, upon leaving O2 in London both nights in January 2015, I heard people talking enthusiastically about the Freddie on-screen appearances and how much of a surprise they were. They'd been doing that for 10 years by then. It wasn't new. That didn't change my opinion of it (personally, I think one appearance is enough, and I'd probably take him out of "Love Of My Life" over "Bo Rhap") - just as you posting tweets from 15 fans each night won't change my thoughts on this dull, uninspired money grab tour. I have no problem with you posting YouTube clips from shows into these threads, although I've stoped watching them. Brian's (predictable) "Danny Boy" extract aside, there's no reason to watch/listen to much of this show if you listened to the first nights of the US leg on Mixlr. Or downloaded the Hollywood Bowl recordings. Or have seen them in 2015 and/or 2016. |
Iron Butterfly 27.11.2017 09:28 |
Thanks chinwonder. I will watch later today. Gotta say, I like how Brian adds those little touches. I just wish he could play the whole thing. |
Iron Butterfly 27.11.2017 09:46 |
Those copy and pasted tweets. I don't think they add anything much to the discussion, and some of them come across as nothing but fan girlng. Someone thinks AL is sexy...what are we supposed to do with that? Agree? Discuss his sexiness? I'm glad Freddie is still shown in these concerts, my views is he should be shown even more than he is. It's a sore spot for memhere is even less of him. LOML is a nice touch, but DOOL was the perfect way to pay tribute to Freddie and John in these shows...that's one of the main reasons I say these shows could be better. If DOOL was a part of these shows, I would be glued to the streams. I don't even bother tuning in, I wait for videos, my hopes for set list changes is just about gone. I never thought I would say anything to do with Brian and Roger could be boring, but this tour is. I really wish there was more effort put into it. |
SweetCaroline 27.11.2017 10:19 |
That’s exactly why I post those glowing tweets — to show you doubters that these old guys are NOT boring at ages 70 and 68. They are not going to be here and able to play LIVE forever. They put on a spectacular show and should not be criticized. They did add some songs since their last tour. LOML is their poignant tribute to Freddie. They know best what works and should be appreciated for their professionalism! |
Iron Butterfly 27.11.2017 10:32 |
So you are hoping to change people's minds by copying and pasting tweets? They should not be criticised? Says you. Sorry I think all views are allowed to be posted here, and I guess you want praise only... exactly like I thought. Yea, whoopee they added a AL solo song, at the expense of Queen songs. IL and SYW was dropped because they 'felt like it' I will never understand that, and why there's even less of Freddie and John now. LOML isn't enough as the tribute to Freddie. Does a tribute and fondness for John escape your attention? He matters too in the Queen history. Thanks for proving you are a stepford who wants praise only. |
SweetCaroline 27.11.2017 10:48 |
Maybe John doesn’t want to be shown like they have done in DOOL? They must have their reasons for what they do and don’t do. It is their show. I don’t consider this a money grab because it takes a lot of crew people to make the show run so smoothly. Just striking the set, putting it back together in each venue and transporting it safely is a major project! Coordinating the sound and lighting so that it is perfect is no small feat! |
Iron Butterfly 27.11.2017 11:00 |
You know sweetcaroline...maybe the one thing we will ever have in common is that we are awake at this hour ;-) :-). I don't know what John thinks, I'm not going to assume. I'm stating how I feel. I don't rely on tweets etc to do it for me. Do I think this tour is a money grab? A part of me thinks so, especially after all the hype about it being dangerous and the NOTW anniversary. I think it's easier than ever to set up and take down a show, the lighting, etc. The lighting, Frank, doesn't make up for what I feel is missing. The focus for me, is the music. That's what I care about the most. |
SweetCaroline 27.11.2017 11:44 |
Yes, it’s about the music! BUT ..... When I went to a second QAL show in 2014 at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Michigan I was directed to a ladies room down the hall from the stage because my seat was on the main floor and because I am older I couldn’t go quickly up the stairs to the restroom area. I was amazed at all of the huge black containers lined up in that hallway that were marked for the show. In order to fit on those trucks, the various components of the show must be broken up and carefully put in their specific black cases. It’s like a giant puzzle and that crew has to be able to work quickly and efficiently. There is more to that show than the 6 guys playing on the stage! |

That's what I care about the most.I totally agree with your comments on the setlist, however you're some way off the mark with your assumption that it has never been easier to set up a show. The current Queen production needs 22 trucks (40ft trailers) they are touring with close to 70 crew. They hire in 95 more crew at each venue. Setup takes from 6:30AM until 2 or 3 PM. At 6:30 the venue/arena is empty, everything is built from scratch, the stage, including a 2 ton stage lift and a smaller one top life, these are pushed into position and the stage built around them. Riggers have to hang 60+ flying points to hang motor lifts from to hang, lighting, video and sound. All of which has to be assembled on sight. Also catering and dressing room and production office equipment is carried and set up at each venue. The stage, including the lifts has to be pushed into place, once built, to its position under the lighting rig and video screens. After the show it takes three hours to take it all down, and pack it away and load the truck, in sequence so that they can be unloaded as they are needed st the next venue. Most of the time they do two shows back to back over night traveling, the crew are lucky to get 5 or 6 hours sleep at the most on the tour busses. Every third day is usually a day off. Those who complain about ticket pricing haven't a clue what goes into a show on this scale, and the flight cases Caroline saw stacked in that corridor were a tiny percentage of what is being used. |

For the London O2 shows in 2015 I paid: Block 103 - £69 + fees (IIRC) Block 412 - £49 + fees. The same seats would cost £200 ("official platinum seat") and £79 respectively on this tour. The stage isn't that different. The video screens are a bit more impressive but that, combined with inflation, does not justify that price hike within such a short space of time. |

The upstage video screen is 55 ft wide as opposed to 25x25 on the last tour. The downstage screen is 70 feet from end to end and hung on a curved truss. Your reply to my post further goes to prove you have no real idea about touring on this scale. The last tour traveled in 14 trailers, this tour uses 22. The last tour had 55 staff plus 65 local load in crew and 75 at Loadout. As I pointed out this time it's 95 and 120. This is a bigger and more expensive production in every way. You quoted ticket prices, something i didn't. The promoter sets the price, he hires the venue and pays the band am egret set amount. He then makes as much as possible from ticket sale. If he chooses to call an area platinum and charge accordingly, not hats up to him. If a venue sell badly it's his loss. I could go on to explain the more complex rigging and flying arrangement that this show needs compared to the last but I really think it would go over your head ;) |

I can’t copy it here but just saw a very positive comment from Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott. He and and Rick Savage were at the QAL show in Dublin last Saturday! Joe played Get Down Make Love on his Planet Rock radio show after attending the show and recommends going to this great show! He said that song was the highlight for him! |

Never thought I'd ever see the day that sweetcaroline can't copy and paste something like a glowing review of sorts :o. Love Def Leppard, read what they had to say about it because it was shared on Facebook. I think GDML is something I cringe at, even more with AL crawling around during it. No highlight for me. It should be a heavy rock song, but it comes across as cheesy to me in these shows. I don't like the Queen version very much either by the way. All IMO of course. |

Went to the Newcastle Arena gig on Friday as probably the most sceptical attendee.... All I’m gonna say is if you get the chance, go. Videos and YouTube clips don’t do them justice. Brian’s playing as well as ever, Roger, while not as energetic as previous tours, more than makes up for it with that voice. Then there’s Mr Lambert...... I’m not a fan, but no one can say the guy can’t sing. All 3, as well as the other guys, genuinely seemed to be enjoying themselves. I suggest if people get the opportunity, to go along. Yes it’s a lot of money, yes he’s not Freddie, but fucking hell, it’s a pretty decent way to spend 2 hours of your life DrumBrother user not visiting Queenzone.com Bohemian: 233 posts add to buddy list send PM Posted: 03 Dec 17, 15:58 Edit this post Reply to this post Reply with Quote I have to agree scottmax. I saw them in Dublin last week and it was fantastic. They all really seem to be digging this tour and the musicianship was outstanding. I like you am not a big Adam fan but when I saw them in Glasgow a couple of years back he blew me away. He has an incredible range and certainly does things his way, which is fine by me. I had the pleasure of seeing Queen 4 times, Queen with Paul 6 times and with Adam twice now and they are all different but great in their own way. It's not our band it's Brian, Roger and John's and they can do with it what they please and I for one am fine with that. If you go you will be entertained and that's what it's all about. |
