While Hollywood seems to be going down in flames...is the music industry next in line to get a public beating? Or are they in a sort of grey area?
Purely hypothetical...what will be the story that'll cost Queen a few fans? :D
Brian with underage badgers?
John with strippers?
Freddie dressing in drag and masturbating in front of Barbara Valentin?
Roger raping Debby Harry?
Fat Bottomed Girls a sexist anthem?
Well the nude Bicycle Race thing is a grey area for sure.
Some girls that participated weren't even 18 yet.
The press kit contains a topless picture of the winner saying she's 17.
Maybe at the time it was not that much of a big deal. These days it certainly would be.
And like I said before, Freddie doing cocaine and having sex with barely legal prostitutes in South-America isn't something too classy either.
Might not be illegal, apart from the coke thing, it certainly would've caused a fair bit of discussion would it have happened in this day and age.
Having said all this. Times in the 70s and early 80s were a bit different of course.
Jimmy Page and Bill Wyman are way better examples than any member of Queen if it comes to behaviour that would've been totally unacceptable these days and kinda was accepted in the 70s / early 80s...
Freddie wouldn't get away with what he did in the 80s, today. Not in a world of smartphones, social media, etc. The South American crap is probably the worst. While none of us know the details, the guy was probably using these youngster as basically cum receptacles. Kind of like a disposable razor blades, except you only use it once. I doubt many of those boys are still alive today.
But while I don't condone his behaviour, I don't necessarily condemn it either. It was one massive fuckfest at the time.

No idea if the story is even true, but the story with the South American taxi boys was that they were all doing stuff to him as he lay there looking like he wasn't even enjoying it, not him pummeling barely legals.
Of course this is all from Lesley Ann Jones' trash biography, so maybe it should be taken with a pinch of salt.
