He idolized the old heroes from the past. I was just praising the dude a couple of days ago (*missed the Hollywood bowl shows due to family/funding) ....how much he cherished the song styles of iconic old school singer songwriters and how EVEN IF THEY COULD bust some crazy chops, he'd restrain and constrain the band to "keeping it simple" as if to always create in that "road song" style of Dion, Orbison, Holly etc. Knowing the POWER of it could be in reduction and simplicity.
I freaking love their music, i love his music. I love mudcrutch music. ....so damn terrible.

I am absolutely heartbroken over this. Tom Petty's music has meant so much to me for almost as long as I can remember, and I'm having a genuinely hard time accepting that he's fucking dead.
