To me It's a Hard Life.I think that this song deserves better video than it is. |
Sponge Caves 28.09.2017 08:33 |
Back Chat. I didn't even realise they'd released it as a single until recently! |
Sponge Caves 28.09.2017 08:34 |
Also Calling All Girls. Kind of clinical looking. Like the above: caged Freddie. Let him out! |
Sponge Caves 28.09.2017 08:37 |
My only problem with It's A Hard Life is the other three were kind of marginalised and maybe they should have had bigger roles, but other than that, it was kinda cool, just very Freddie! |
Cruella de Vil 28.09.2017 11:22 |
Calling all girls...really dumb with zero interest from anyone involved. Freddie's prawn outfit in Hard life was awful but extravagant as it was, it was at least colourful. Roger complains about it but it isn't that much removed from the video for Power to Love by the Cross. |
dysan 28.09.2017 11:53 |
I think the band look great in those Hot Space videos. |

Not their worst video, but I always feel that Under Pressure deserved something a bit better |

It's a Hard Life, i can't even bring myself to watch it anymore ! |
Kuijpy 28.09.2017 13:41 |
Whats wrong with Its a Hard Life? I know it's pure Freddie, I don't like the cheap live versions as Another One Bites The Dust, Fat Bottomed Girls and Hammer To Fall. |

Don't Stop Me Now even has the piano pulled in across the stage set as they were too lazy to shoot any wider angled or more imaginative shots. |

cmsdrums wrote:I don't mind It's a Hard Life video, but agree with Invisible Woman that it didn't do that song justice. It's a brilliant song in my view and the video is too 'glaring' and takes away from the song's depth. I say the worst would be Calling All Girls because I think everyone including the director just gave up. It's A Hard Life isn't the worst but consider more as inappropriate considering the nature of the song but guess there are some visually pleasing scenes compared to CAG. |
dysan 29.09.2017 07:16 |
Depends what you like I guess? |

There are very few Queen videos that are worth seeing again ... unfortunately. |
Vocal harmony 29.09.2017 12:58 |
The "live" videos TYMD, FBG, AOBTD, HTF I always enjoyed because at the time, before the Internet they were the only way of seeing what the current touring show looked like and served as a reminder of shows we may have been lucky enough to attend. Yes they could be viewed as an easy or cheap cop out but they weren't the only band doing this. The simple truth is that a lot of the big production videos are not much better (not just Queen) and most look very dated, looking back. But remember a video was/is a marketing tool, it's an advert for the song and album they don't need to be a carefully crafted work of art in the same way a big production film with serious story is. Queen having claimed they invented the music video with Bo Rhap, they didn't really, they then had a huge self imposed legacy to live up too and very often failed with later songs/vids |
norbik131 29.09.2017 16:03 |
music video to Play The Game :p |
matt z 29.09.2017 23:27 |
The one with Freddie in the bathtub. Also WWRY LIVE ( one camera) But saying that IAHL is bad is crazy. If anything it's beautiful and luxurious. The clip might make a person wince and think what the fuuck is THIS? But for productions it probably tops them all (excluding POTU) I only hope they filmed it on REAL FILM and not tape. I could imagine that being cleaned up and looking absolutely stunning on a blu-ray or 4K |
PrimeJiveUSA 29.09.2017 23:40 |
I always thought The Invisible Man was really cheap looking and dated for 1989 even. |
matt z 30.09.2017 05:04 |
The thing that bugged me most about the invisible man was the bar that keeps reappearing at the end when the kids movements are looped. That and that the whole thing looked to be processed on VIDEO TAPE instead of the much more costly AND QUEENISH FILM medium. It's corny shit for real but I'm sure it brings laughs to all involved |
musicland munich 30.09.2017 06:30 |
There is no worst Queen video ! They can never beat "YES" in that category. link |

Nah, the multicolored flames imagery is just painfully dated that I didn't care to watch it again. |
PrimeJiveUSA 30.09.2017 16:28 |
I love the Play The Game video. I seem to love the song more than most people, as well. |
Dr Magus 30.09.2017 17:51 |
Each member of Queen looks pretty awful in the Scandal video, Roger especially. |
Darthritis1 01.10.2017 18:30 |
I love watching 'It's a Hard Life' for the expressions on Brian, Roger and John's faces. You can positively see them cursing Freddie haha |

"Hammer to Fall" It's mostly because i really dislike the song. Something about it is really irritating to me. Don't think I've ever managed to listened to it from start to end. |

matt z wrote: The thing that bugged me most about the invisible man was the bar that keeps reappearing at the end when the kids movements are looped. This has to be the most miniscule thing I've ever noticed in a video, and I'm so glad someone has noticed it too. |

^ yeah. I don't like it much either, sounds forced and artificial *(the style of it) But i truly truly truly loved the version Brian did for Q+PR.... that was great. Somehow i think his sincerity came through making it worlds and worlds better. ... I think it's the artificial bombast. ...80's drums. ...that really ruins it for me; because its such a brilliant lyric. |
I always thought The Invisible Man was really cheap looking and dated for 1989 even.
Totally agree. It looks too childish for a band of such a caliber. Freddie and other makin too many pompous and silly looking movements and gestures. Play the Game and Kind of Magic are pretty average too (except the CG-effects and "hobo" make-up in latter, they are quite funny!) |

I like the video for It's a Hard Life. I never see the problem with it. As for their worst, it has to be a toss up between Back Chat and The Miracle. |

It's worth arguing that The Invisible Man song is not quite serious in the first place. As a 12 year old in 1989 I thought it (like the equally naff Breakthru video) was sweeeeeeeeet. |
Seed_Of_Rhy 27.10.2017 08:50 |
dysan, the lyrics of T.I.M. quite funny and inventive...i think nobody could blame this song for the lack of resourcefulness. But one can blame the video... I think this one shows the band just relaxing and playing fools not trying to create a marketing product. Kinda video made for themselves, not for listeners/watchers. |
dysan 27.10.2017 08:53 |
I disagree - the video was aimed straight at the summer holiday kids TV and was shown quite a lot. They even had a competition to win the sunglasses Freddie wore in the video. they pushed the video. |

The only video I don't like much is Fat Bottomed Girls. They could have tried harder with this one. I mean, come on! This song is about fat bottomed girls. They should bring some girls and do something similar to the Bicycle Race video, but even better! |

I think this one shows the band just relaxing and playing fools not trying to create a marketing product. Kinda video made for themselves, not for listeners/watchers.I always thought THE INVISIBLE MAN (*once i grew up and considered motivations) was played as tongue in cheek but was a compromise with Roger retaining some of the original concept *especially the "never had a real good friend. .."* bit. I think that sums it up. Kinda like a line in Eurythmics' "We too, are one" ..... "People like us, are too messed up. ...to live in solitude" It's a statement about what makes an artist/performing artist "tick"....very often it's the "outsider" trying to make a name for themselves like the middle bit of the song: "no one knows what I've been through; let my flag unfurl. ...so i make my mark from the edge of the world" Once again a Roger-ist topic. Not necessarily political, but political in the sense it's about people and motivations. For better or worse, some people who are marginalized will make a bizarre compensatory effort to make themselves significant. Anyways. ....that's my point. The "invisible" man, IS HEARD IN YOUR ROOM IN YOUR BED IN YOUR LIFE IN YOUR HEAD Transcending form.... Same concept rapper ICE T explored on the HOME INVASION LP. Although FAR FAAAAAAR less serious. The video IS super corny though. My favorite parts are Freddie's glasses and John Deacon thumping/dancing to the beat. Least favorite part again is the glitch syncing the QUEEN on top and kid on bottom loop that keeps showing a bar repeat and disappear along the bottom right of the screen. I must be OCD or something, but if that were MY project i would've been sweating wondering *why the fuck didn't we notice that? GOD they're gonna reject our video or we're going to have to do an expensive redo. Anyways. Worst Queen video FREDDIE IN THE BATH TUB - GARDEN LODGE Or maybe the (un)rumored BRIAN and ANITA sex tape |
dysan 27.10.2017 14:11 |
I think the whole Miracle album is an album for children. Simplistic look at aspects of life. And because of that it totally connects. I remember getting the cassingle of TIM and loving HMH. Used to cycle around in the summer listening thinking I was in America in a cool gang of 80s street tufs. |
matt z 27.10.2017 14:27 |
^Hahaha. Street tufs certainly wouldn't be listening to Queen. At what age did you find out? |
dysan 27.10.2017 15:16 |
I found out this fact at 14.27 on the 27th October 2017. |
