Essentially, I gather it means that four of the six strings are so finely balanced that to bend, say, exactly a semitone on any position on any one string requires *exactly* the same physical 'distance' of bending as on any other, meaning you can execute multi-voiced bends with your whammy bar that are (pretty much) perfectly in tune.
And ok, technically it's Brian's guitar-tech who is named as being interested.
That sounds fantastic. I'm not very good at "setting" up guitars. Maybe i haven't had the interest or patience to do such a behind the scenes technical thing. ...but my friend 50+ years old has a CHARVELL that "plays like butter"
...done by some Japanese tech's at Performance Guitars in Hollywood.
I could imagine one could get to be such a Smith at it that they could make any guitar FEEL wonderful.
I've played on some shitty guitars. Thanks, Thomasquinn.
Unfortunately my disposition and peace of mind after family squabble will hinder me from reading it right now
Read. Quietly. Peacefully.
That's absolutely fantastic. Allowing the equitable bending of notes according to pressure sounds far reaching considering they're usually made of different density/more or less winds/wider/thinner strings.
Previously only synthesized instruments could do that.
And that D string. ...i always thought it was just me. Likely it's the physics of tension on the body with a complete wound set.
I think THAT is significant too.
Thanks for the very interesting post. I'll share with my musician friends
