I was thinking a bit about this, I don't know if there was any talk about it here in a some thread. Brian and Roger sing(or was sing then) well.Perhaps they shouldn't have been looking for another singer, but that they were taken over by the two of them and continued to record new songs and new albums without being the priorities of the tour. Perhaps John would remain in the band at that time? I just wonder. What do you think of that? |
dysan 17.09.2017 08:45 |
Unlikely that John would've continued. A gig like that would work really well in smaller venues - no attempt to recreated the glory days, just doing it for the love of the music. We'd probably get far more interesting setlists too. Look at the weird stuff that happened in the early 90s. However, I don't think that would suit their take on continuing the brand. |
matt z 17.09.2017 08:55 |
Old conversation. Fortunately/unfortunately the band is successful and ENTIRELY in the public eye...they wouldn't have done a tour like this in THIS DAY without massively inflated ticket prices. But as to QUEEN after Freddie. ....it's not likely One significant oddity is that JOHN and Roger were initially working to complete the final recordings featuring Freddie Mercury ....AND continuing the brand....THEN at some point it changed and they were no longer considering the thing on their own It'd definitely be more appealing to the long term fan...but those days of this as a possibility are LOOOOOOOONG over. Who'd "care" to show up? |
Invisible Woman 17.09.2017 09:39 |
Yes, I understand that the old conversation, but the "search" option isn't of great help to me. And some bother when old topics are reactivated (if I can find something that interests me) so I don't know what's better for us who are not here for a long time, opening a topic or finding an old one. Neither one nor the other seems to me.LOL |

Always worth a new thread. Theories change, the landscape changes etc. |
PeggyM37 18.09.2017 20:53 |
Apologies if this has been raised before (but I've never found anything on here that answers this question). What made the Made In Heaven project shift from being primarily the work of John and Roger to become the work of Brian and Roger? |

As far as the tours are concerned, it would've been better if they could've used more of Freddie on screen, singing along with them. That's the highlight of their Queen+ shows. |

Day dop - sorry to disagree but I was lucky enough to see QUEEN many times from 77 to 86 and since then QPR & QAL and as far as I'm concerned Adam Lambert with QUEEN is a superb show not a reproduction. I have a grown up family and we are all going this year to see the Quuen + Adam Lambert show for different reasons. Me & the Wife its Queen but for my daughters its Adam I am so happy that this is happening and we can share it lets be honest Brian & Roger don't need to do it they are doing it because THEY WANT TO. I find myself getting frustrated by people on here knocking Queen + Adam as a fan since 74 I am so excited that I can still see my favourite band play live. Am I the only person who has actually accepted that Freddie has passed away? I don't think so the UK leg of this years tour sold out within a few hours so the public has spoken............ Watch the abuse start!!!!! |

No abuse needed. It seems clear that you are just stating that Q+AL is, for you and others, an enjoyable experience and not as an undisputed fact that applies to everybody.. Nothing wrong with that. For some others on here who, like yourself, also have a long history as Queen fans since the early 70's (myself 14 shows with Freddie, 1 PR and 1 AL) the whole spectacle is an embarrassing abomination. As others on here have opined, I regard the show as little more than an expensive Queen karaoke night out. For me Freddie Mercury was so powerful in presence and melodic talent that he was the very essence of the band. Neither am I very fond of old men replaying former glories. It just ultimately disappoints me. If you have fun go for it. |

Am I the only person who has actually accepted that Freddie has passed away? I don't think so the UK leg of this years tour sold out within a few hours so the public has spoken............ Watch the abuse start!!!!!Lambert isn't with Queen. He's a singer for Queen+. Queen was Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon. Queen+ is Brian May, Roger Taylor, and whoever is filling in on bass and as a singer. Queen and Queen+ are not the same band. Or are you completely disregarding Freddie Mercury and John Deacon? If it's not a (poor) reproduction, how comes they're doing Queen songs that were written decades ago? Where's their new material? (And no, promoting the odd naff Lambert song here and there doesn't really count. We're talking about entire shows here). May and Taylor also WANTED to and did do a tacky Pepsi commercial, they WANTED to and did collaborate with Robbie Williams. May WANTED to did collaborate with Dappy, May and Taylor also WANTED to and did collaborate with FIVE, and WANTED to and did go on American Idol. They WANTED to and did give the go ahead for the Wyclef Jean AOBTD abomination and stuck it on Greatest Hits III.You get the picture. Generally, it's tacky crap. You're mentioning their names like an appeal to authority, but that doesn't make them immune from criticism, or that everyone is going to like it, nor should anyone have to keep their opinions to themsevles. Over the last couple of decades, they've barely done anything artistic-wise that's worthy of any kind of praise from me. Sure, they play their instruments well still, but that's about it. You do understand that just because someone doesn't rate Lambert that doesn't mean that they haven't accepted Freddie has passed away, right? That's a straw man argument you've made there. Also, sales do not necessarily equate to artistic merit - certainly not as far as I'm concerned anyway. Justin Bieber can sell out shows too. And Queen+ FIVE went to number one with their version of We Will Rock You. Again, tacky crap. I include the Queen+ Lambert collaboration as tacky crap too. What's "Watch the abuse start!!!!!" all about??? Making an assumption such as that is not a great way to conduct yourself during an exchange, and if anything, it could encourage someone to become abusive. And in case you consider it so, pointing that out is not "abuse" either). |

I have accepted FM's passing but I can't accept the Queen+AL shows, for me it's embarrassing, been to one show few years ago. This is just me and I'm not saying everyone should feel that way, if you like it that's great. Call me "purist", call me whatever you like...... I've seen little respect from BM and RT to the purist fans once they got AL, they don't have to, making lots of money. |

At the end of the day the point I was making was that the only people posting here seem to be those in the Queen without Freddie and John are not valid camp I believe Brian and Roger are valid and the shows are valid I'm in my late 50's and I have enjoyed the Queen + shows very very much and hope they continue for a long time. Or saying that I think the Queen+Lambert shows, along with their collaborations with Dappy, Five and Lambert etc are "tacky"? Those are the worst things I said. So I think you're misusing the word "abuse". It's not abuse at all. It's my genuine opinion. And even if I said worse, who is being abused here? I very much doubt May, Taylor, Five, Dappy, Wyclef Jean or Lambert bother reading this forum I don't think May and Taylor have done anything over the last 20 years that is worthy of artistic praise (aside from play their instruments well). Quite the opposite in fact. And that includes what they've done with Lambert. I find it to be cringeworthy. Btw, you're not another account belonging to Vocal Harmony, are you? I recall that account saying she was in her late 50s. And it seems odd both accounts sound very much the same. |

Well, no. And you have taken offence to my opinion and sound much the same. Last time, the other half of the exchange got deleted afterwards. No. It's not paranoia whatsoever. I'm pointing out my observations, that is all. And yes, it seems quite peculiar. Maybe you ought to look up the definition of the word? What I've observed and commented on makes me (by definition of the word 'paranoid') neither mentally ill, nor irrational. It's the same thing as last time - by someone sounding just the same, taking offence, and "in their late 50s" (or, 54 at the same time). And once again, you didn't address what I said. When you say "shame you operate this way", what exactly do you mean? It's a shame that I observe and comment on what I see? (And why is it a shame?). How is me commenting on what I see me trying to justify "crass remarks", speaking of which, what "crass remarks" are you speaking of? And please stop coming out with nonsense such as "you seem to be the sort of person that cannot accept opinions" in order to deflect. If you stop coming out with nonsense, then I won't. But y'know, don't worry about answering what I've asked. We'll leave it at that. I would say in return that it's a shame you operate in such a way. Once again you're misusing the word "paranoia" too. You misusing the same word again doesn't make it any more true. Like I said, I've made an observation and commented on what I see. That does not equate to paranoia. In order to be paranoid, it would have to be something other than amusing and inconsequential. What's amusing is your reactions. First, getting overly defensive of Queen+ Lambert, then all your straw man arguments since. As to what you could've instead addressed, you can read back through the exchange.
