By request...
This footage has done the rounds on VHS for decades (usually pretty bad copies that fluctuate between colour and b/w), but this one is pretty close to the master. Some have said it comes from a German show, but nobody actually knows. Whatever it is, it's certainly from at least two shows, as there are two shots of Brian May doing Love Of My Life in different attire.
It's silent 8mm footage, which is surprising for 1982, as 8mm film was falling out of fashion by then. The filmer (presumably) dubbed the studio versions of songs to the footage, which was pretty common in the era. link
Enjoy !
Thanks!
I've seen this video labeled as "Boblingen 1982" but it's definitely from two shows. Maybe a band attire comparison with the Queenliveca pictures can narrow down the guesses!
Thanks for this Bob. I'll check it against mine! LOL
Your comment regarding 8mm being out of fashion: Well no, not really.
Back in '82, home video cameras (certainly in Britain), were little things that had an umbilical cord which attached to a portable VCR, apprx half the size of a home VCR. They were also very expensive and effectively a luxury item. More so than a home VCR. My Mum bought our first VCR in 1981 and it cost £500: that was a month and a half's salary (she was a teacher) and so a video camera would most likely have been out of the price range of the filmer.
There is of course the issue of sneaking such a camera kit into a venue....
Maybe the case was different in the USA, but in Britain and no doubt the rest of Europe, video cameras were few and far between and 8mm use was still quite common.
