The Queen biopic is slowly coming together now. We've known for a long time that Rami Malek will play Freddie Mercury. There has been some news lately. Bryan Singer uploaded a picture of himself in front of a model of the Live Aid stage set. In the background we can see a lot of Queen pictures through the years. There are writings on the pictures, but its not possible to tell what it says. Bryan Singer with the model of the Live Aid set A couple of days ago reports said that Eastenders star Ben Hardy had been chosen to play Roger Taylor. This is now confirmed by imdb.com. Ben Hardy to play Roger Taylor I dont know anything about his ability as an actor. But lookswise he looks perfect for the role: Ben Hardy playing Fifa |

And yes, some of the headers are in fact readable with some imagination. Am I the only one excited about this movie by now? It has such a potential if done right. It could of course turn out disappointing, but I choose to look at this as an opportunity to get something brilliant. |

I would prefer a fictional story featuring the band. Any one of these would do: - fighting aliens on a planet far far away - time travel story where they find out they are their own grandfathers. Or something. - Queen versus Dracula. - Queen in a submarine versus Japanese whale hunters - Terminator-style story where Arnie has to kill Fred to stop Hot Space being released. |

Top center right Queen montage Bbc/seven seas of Rhye single, jazz inner sleeve, save me, play the game Left side scenario definitely looks like Ealing art college....another looks like the war room from dr Strangelove. Can only figure the others are pre big time college tours. Maybe one with hoople Maybe this IS it...and the film WILL end at LIVE AID. ...:-/ |

Production starts next week according to an article in "Hemel today": Last week the Gazette exclusively revealed that Fox Productions had applied to spend three months filming at Bovingdon Airfield. Production will run from July 17 to October 20, with filming and rehearsals throughout September. Residents have been told that increased traffic will see up to 800 cars and shuttle buses per day visit the site during the shoot. LINK Anyone know about this newspaper and how reliable it is? |

I really am not too keen on this biopic at all, but what would you say to Russell Brand playing Freddie? I think he has that same 'outrageousness', campness, in-your-face performance style, and looks a bit like him as well. I know he is very controversial, but put that aside, and just look at how he would fit the Freddie look and image. |

That'd be a dire choice; an in-your-face performance style that'd be completely unwelcome for a great number of people. He hasn't got the same style as Freddie at all. There'd be nothing believable about him playing Freddie whatsoever either. There's no way I'd entertain that film if he was cast to play the part. |

Besides the terrible likeness to Freddie, I surely hope Rami Malek can pull off a good British accent. Same with Joe Mazzello. Brits can usually do a very credible American accent, rarely does it work in reverse. We shall see. |

So the guy playing Roger is almost ten years younger than the other 3. Interesting that they've gone for men in their mid 30's, (Roger excluded) Presumably that means they'll be concentrating on the 1980's and 'younging them up' for the 1970's. Roger always looked younger anyway. (Such a pretty boy) |

I remain unconvinced about this, of corse everyone wants Freddie to be alive again and to a certain extent this revives him, I can see it being on the level of 'behind the candelabra' with Micheal Douglas and Matt Damon..so a reasonably small film but that was pretty good, which surprised me. A couple of things can kill it I think, one is too much focus on Brian, roger and john, I know Brian wanted most of the movie originally set after Freddie's death which I presume is now dead itself as it's a terrible idea. The other would be a camp comedy, which I really don't think was ever going to happen, but could have been with bara cohen..borat like. Or that dire channel 5 thing darlings. Well I don't know, Freddie always wanted to keep his personal life private and they keep tinkering with his legacy (adding a orchestra to Barcelona..which Moran didn't like) and all the other things, part of me wants to say let's just leave it alone, it's tacky..but then part of me is curious, and I of corse want to see 'Freddie' around again so to speak. I just wanted to pen my thoughts and I'll look back and see how it went, I think it's going to be a smallish drama with a few set pieces rather than a big movie...like a film 4 of BBC film, what more can be said though..made some music, told Brian to fuck off and vice Versa, john got drunk..Freddie cruised the gay clubs then played live aid.. depends if it's a queen film or a Freddie one I suppose. Having said all this, It might be brilliant. |

The year is 2085 and a frail 137 year old Brian May on his deathbed is the last surviving witness to Live Aid and, on it's one hundredth anniversary, decides to give his final interview to a female journalist. His story then unfolds in a series of flashbacks with the film divided thus; 1970-85 10 mins Live Aid 20 mins 1986-91 (including Freddie's death) 5 mins 1992-2008 omitted from story 2009-2017 90 mins In the last scene of the film the journalist asks if he has any regrets and Brian reveals only that Adam Lambert hadn't been born earlier and so wasn't able to perform with them at Live Aid, 'so unfortunately we had to make do with our first singer'. Brian passes away peacefully and the female journalist turns her face to reveal she's not female but actually a 136 year old Paul Gambaccini in a syrup. And so the final twist is revealed that Brian ISN'T the last surviving witness to Live Aid and so opens the door for a future sequel starring Paul Gambaccini in a syrup being interviewed on his deathbed about being the last surviving witness to Live Aid. Unfortunately the journalist turns out to be Adam Ant out of Adam Ant and His Ants. None of this has anything to do with the real film, just a nightmare i had last night. |

Would've been better with Disney. Freddie, a young Victorian chimney sweep in London meets a harsh school mistress (Miss May) and decides to help the school raise money for their fast diminishing gruel store. Freddie befriends a rebellious blonde and a quiet electronics genius and go on to sell over 500 copies of the sheet music to 'Tee Hee Me Hose Is Me Own' - a big hit in the music halls of Piccadilly and St Giles. |

I would think if it is it would get a cinematic release although these sort of films tend to have limited appeal when compared to the "hollywood blockbusters". The Ian Dury film made it to the big screen certainly in the UK so I would expect this one too. |

Dr Magus wrote: The year is 2085 and a frail 137 year old Brian May on his deathbed is the last surviving witness to Live Aid and, on it's one hundredth anniversary, decides to give his final interview to a female journalist. This made me chuckle. Thanks. |

I forgot to say there was a good concert reconstruction picture on line the other week. Similar rig to Montreal. Also, I can't say I'd ever heard of Bryan Singer before. What's all this about him being a paedo and are Queen Productions aware? |
