For all we know, He just wanna listen to the album straight from the source. What a way to celebrate the album's 40th year. Can I have my fingers crossed that certain multitrack masters from NOTW would "leak" out of Abbey Road to the internet, like with GDML? |

This conjecture is great and a special anniversary edition of NOTW would be great, but having other albums go by without a nod it would seem slim. I guess the other side of this is that it was the major break through to the big league in America, also one of if not their biggest selling album in that market. We got a 30th anniversary ANATO set so who knows. . . . Releasing it after the tour makes sense . It could be released on the original date or week that NOTW was released and remember that the music industry has changed. Album sales are not what drives a tour anymore, most acts make more from touring then they do from sales now, unlike the 70's and 80's. The current tour might make a lot more people aware, especially new fans of the album, and so build a market to release it too. . . . If it happens! |

Reverse engineering - the tour markets the product. And on the tweet itself, he included photos of the tape boxes, with what seems to be an early title of Get Down Make Love - called "Get Down Make Head." Is that the first we've heard of this? Was it just one of those silly titles, like Brighton Fuck? |
Killer_queenIII 30.06.2017 11:09 |

Not mastertapes though are they? Reels with songs on them, not actual track sheets. Don't get your hopes up. Or keep talking about it in 5 years. Probably the case... |
matt z 30.06.2017 20:55 |
Maybe they're dicing one of these up into tiny pieces (like the Foo Fighters did) as its not a multi track. Purchase the new edition and get a fragment of that reel to reel with it |

But they are just stereo reels. |
cmsdrums 01.07.2017 05:22 |
He may well state it's 'not a remaster' as in a straight new edition of the album, but regardless of whether it's a surround release, box set, computer game, etc etc... any audio WILL be remastered. |

I just hope that if they do release some previously unheard tracks as part of a reissue, we don't have to buy a box with scarves, a badge and a robot Jigsaw for $250 to get them. (Although I would likely be one of the people who bought the box... but I want it to be a choice, not a necessity) |

Of course we get our hopes up but given the QPL policy from the past it's best to just expect: - the album (maybe both vinyl and cd) - an extra disc with the BBC tracks and all the other tracks earlier released as bonus tracks in the 2011 remasters. - some memorabilia: our beloved robot? I''m so hoping for a box with complete Harris doc, complete Houston and some extra's (unknown live audio? Etc.) but going by what we got in the past this isn't realistic. Minimal product for maximal cash is sadly the norm. |

I have a framed version of the fake newspaper cover only it says "Queen release monster album" instead of "Current, informative etc" I have always thought it was from the box set but it must be a press release or other promo material separate from the NotW box. All classy stuff. No balloons anywhere in sight... (Which is ironic considering the NotW newspaper was always trashy junk.) |

This is what Rhys Thomas said in that 2012 Q&A on reddit (about the Harrris documentary and the 77 NOTW tour): "Basically all the filming had been completed but nothing assembled. So lots of footage of the band but it had no linking device. We found the whole thing which hadn't been touched for 30 years. We almost wet ourselves watching it through. There is still a lot more in glorious HD that one day we plan to finish of and release, perhaps to accompany some shows from that 77 US tour." I was very intrigued then because he mentions: "to accompany some shows from that 77 US tour" Maybe there's more audio than just Houston? He also said in that Q&A: "My Melancholy Blues and bits of It's Late as well as Champions are all. These were filmed at the recording for the BBC Sessions rather than the actual record. Bonus features for Great Pretender DVD are mainly freddie solo related. Stuff like My Melancholy Blues etc are wasted as bonus features and will probably feature on the 1977 tour documentary if and when we make it." So, there seems to be good stuff from 1977 to include in a NOTW deluxe box. But, I dare not hope they do it right. If they do I'd be so so happy but now I expect a very frustrating product. |
