The live production industry like everything has trends and fashions that most designers follow.
Three big tours that are out at the moment are Metallica, Roger Waters and U2. All are using next to no set, flat open staging huge video walls and relatively minimal lighting.
Both U2 and Metallica are using tower bridges from which the show, video, sound and lighting is flown for their outdoor shows with no roof, Waters is using a more conventional truss flying system in doors, though the overall look of a wide screen is similar.
Both Brian And Roger have said this tour will visually look unlike any other Queen tour. I wonder if they have been sold a similar look by a stage designer who want to compete rather than be different.
