Hi everybody,
Just read this on spiegelonline.de :
"Seine Feste dauerten teilweise tagelang. Zu einer Party für Elizabeth Taylor, die eine Krebserkrankung überstanden hatte, engagierte er die Rockgruppe Queen."
(His parties would last for days. For one party, where Elisabeth Taylor celebrated her cure from cancer, he hired Queen.)
Is that true? Of course we all know the Track Kashoggis Ship on The Miracle LP.
Cheers
Who knows how many private gigs they did. It is quite a common thing.
Nowadays that would be all over the social media but back then it was more of a private affair.

Yup It was only the other day I was reading about him and the queen track. link
I can't see anything about the Queen track at that link, only info about Khashoggi himself that was already well known - has it been edited since you read it, and if so what did it say about it?
German Newspaper "Bild" wrote today that Kashoggi invited only Freddie to said Party of Ms. Taylor to sing for her. No words about when it was.
Very strange. Maybe someone contact the Doctor :-)
Cheers

I didn't find any information about Taylor having cancer until the nineties. Is there a date?
The Cancer thing is mixed up I guess. E.T. had many health and addicton problems.
Maybe Kashoggi had given a party to welcome her back from the "Betty Ford" clinic :)
I thought it was well known that Freddie and roger went to a big do and Freddie add libbed a few numbers with the house band (standards - can't remember which) and roger left in a huff for some reason.
Weirdly I'm the other way around. It cutting in sharply seemed to hid the fact it was a pretty hollow git-bass-drums recording on an album dominated with bells and whistles. Which was only revealed when I heard the Deep Cuts new intro.
Maybe. But your comment made me think of Mustapha, possibly Queen's oddest song, which is also exposed as the opener on Jazz and yet it has stood the test of time. And of course Party and Kashoggi's Ship look very poor in comparison with most Queen songs from the 1970s. Bit of personal taste involved here of course, but I never listen to the opening songs from The Miracle as they tend to spoil the album for me.
