Morning All, except those not in this time zone. Brian May is on BBC Radio 2 at the mo, and sounds really happy and jolly actually. He has mentioned a new project / release called VR the Champions, which sounds like a concert release from Barcelona, but you can immerse youself into the concert via some form of VR headset I guess. He hasn't said if this is a proper release, or something on a mobile, full concert or something like the Bo Rhap mobile release.
Sounds kinda interesting and something of a new forum.
Cheers,
Al.
VRTC is a project developed with director J. Mikkelsen last year, based on the show performed in Barcelona on May. Yes, at the moment it features 15 minutes in virtual reality environment, just like the app BR (though BR is based on simple animations). VRTC can be watched through last generation phones by using any of the VR kits available on the market.
Last year we wrote about this project on our web page. It's in Italian language, but the built in online google-app translation may help to get the basic concepts (original English features are liked anyway). link
There is also a latter interview with Miikkelsen: link
Anyway VRTC seems to be focused to the audiences at exibitions in VR / 3D field.
I couldn't listen to Brian this morning on BBCr2, so my hope is that a full video could be in the pipeline for a proper release (someone hinted about it last year from the States).
People who have experienced VRTC gave enthusiastic feedback.
There is some stuff available through the ps4 vr with Paul McCartney discussing some of his songs from his studio. With the headset you can look around the check out the place and its really pretty cool. There are also a few live performances with the camera placed in different locations. The video quality is not great though, but very immersive.
It's a shame that - as enthusiastic as Brian is - their VR stuff is limited to the subpar mobile kits.
I guess it's so as not to raise the standard for a Queen product.
