Hello everybody,
I just discovered an excellent quality Vancouver December 14th, 1978 show. Along with Toronto December 1st, this is my all time fav show of entire Jazz tour as for now. Unfortunately, the Vancouver show isn't truly complete, as it missing the last part of Brighton Rock. What's most interesting, this version is extended into an instrumental heavy jam that leads to the unrecorded finale of the song. I am much curious if there's either an alternate tape source having that part of the show taped or a different show from the tour, where the complete jam is taped.
Thx in advance,
Paul
Vancouver is indeed a great show! Musically - it's top notch.
As far as I know - there's only one audience source from that show that's available and sadly it's cut at that Brighton Rock section.
Some really good Brighton Rock jams are from Chicago (quality is excellent like Vancouver), Toronto, and Oakland (the quality isn't too great - but the performance is awesome as well).
I personally love the Toronto show from that tour but Chicago, Vancouver, Oakland are all excellent performances! They were certainly on a roll and well oiled at that point. I saw them in Providence on 11/14 and the show was great but a few issues with the lighting rig had Freddie a little pissed off.
As far I remember, the Vancouver 78 recording popped up online from the dark in the middle of the 2000s. It was a surprise as I think it was a completely new recording and not a known uncirculating recording. Great quality and great show even if Freddie Mercury's range was quite limited at this time.
Thank you all for posting tips and advice. After further investigation I found Oakland to be a good show and that jam in the middle of Brighton Rock shines. Thx for help ;).
