I don't know if this has already been covered here on QZ - apologies if it has - but if not.... QUEEN MONOPOLY was finally announced the other day, April 6. We've been working on it for over a year. In extreme detail it must be said, more than you might imagine. For what it's worth, I think it's emerged as a generally fab thing. Very Queeny, very novel, rather endearing in its way. It changed quite a bit through its development, with Brian getting seriously in to the detail and Roger checking every stat and date - a solid team of people making sure nothing 'Queen Tour related' was overlooked. It's great fun and should - if history repeats - cause some major arguments among friends, and, no doubt, see Monopoly boards being thrown in anger and frustration across living rooms all around the country - and beyond. This is the nature of this unique game. Below is the Press Release (I've cut to the chase a bit). Sorry I can't attach photos here. The 6 little metal playing pieces are great... I thought it would be fun to feature the fat bottomed girl on her bike, the Break Free video upright vac, the NOTW robot, obviously, the ga ga radio, and the hammer (to fall), and all of them made it through to the final version (though the scale changed a bit). There is a certain guitar too. I'm wondering which piece will prove most popular. The robot is my guess. I hope you think they're fun too. GB I've just seen it on QOL with pictures - link PRESS RELEASE:Rock Legends Queen, Bravado and Winning Moves join forces to launch MONOPOLY: Queen Edition Game Licensed by Hasbro. LONDON, April 6, 2017 – Bravado, Universal Music Group’s industry-leading merchandise and brand management company and global games company Winning Moves have announced today that global rock legends Queen have joined forces to create a MONOPOLY: Queen edition game, set for release on April 18, 2017 and available for pre-order now. Winning Moves have created the special edition MONOPOLY: Queen Edition game follows in the footsteps of one of the most iconic bands in history, from their humble beginnings on London’s smaller stages to worldwide success and adoration. Produced with the full collaboration of the band, the MONOPOLY: Queen Edition game features six collectible Queen tokens inspired by their iconic career and bespoke ‘houses’ and ‘hotels’ designed by the band’s Brian May. The game board features gig venues from throughout Queen’s illustrious history- from the band’s formation in 1970, right up to the 1986 Wembley and Knebworth shows – Freddie’s last appearances, thanks to Roger Taylor’s encyclopaedic memory of their live experiences. Immerse yourself in Queen’s world, buy these famous venues and charge admission. Collect the colour sets and begin building staging blocks so you can charge higher prices. Upgrade to the full Queen production when you have four staging blocks and charge maximum admission. Take your chances with ‘A Kind of Magic’ and ‘In the Lap of the Gods’ cards, which can boost your career or land you in trouble. As you play, you’ll experience life as a member of a world-class rock band within the unique MONOPOLY game setting. From overseeing the development of the game Brian May, Queen’s guitarist and founding member said “I think fans will be enchanted by the depth of detail in this special Queen edition of an already well-loved game. We have subtly morphed the traditional property-developing journey of Monopoly into the real-life adventure of a rock band on the road. Players will plot a whole career, based on developing bigger and better shows in venues all around the globe. Join us and conquer the World !!!” In making the announcement, David Boyne, MD of Bravado UK, said, "It has been inspiring to see the band so involved throughout the creative process and Brian and Roger’s input has helped create a truly special and personal version of the iconic game that Queen Fans around the world will love.” Like Queen to the world of rock, MONOPOLY is iconic in the world of games, having been enjoyed by more than a billion players worldwide since it launched. Looking forward to this monopoly game and the 3-D book. The first impressions are really really good! I just hope we are going to have a really great AUDIO release this year. I mean a release of actual music. Since I'm a live fanatic and since Roger and Brian looked back at their touring history for the Monopoly game (and in Brian's case also the 3 -D book) I hope we will be getting some unheard and/or unseen concert recordings the coming years... |

Sorry Greg - congrats and well done to all for delivering on the project; here's hoping Roger's fact checking *IS* top notch - but I just can not raise a smile (let alone anything else) for this. |

A year??? A YEAR??!!!! |
RS_Protos 10.04.2017 11:25 |
I feel so bad, a whole year, maybe that explains why last years other releases were crap, too much work. I can't wait to buy it so i repay them for the hard work. |

Very nice n all and thanks for the info and hard work out into thiese projects. However I won't be buying this. If only QPL would put such hard work and dedication into an actual release of music (I.e concert release). |

I'm sure it looks lovely but what i would like to see (and maybe a few others) is a 40th anniversary News Of The World deluxe boxset with the album, a disc with rarities, the Houston concert and the one fans are craving for for decades, the full 1977 Bob Harris documentary. Oh and balloons are not a must. If QPL for once just would listen to the begging and screaming fans who made the band members rich what we really like and would spent our money on. Why oh why are we dissapointed year after year. The latest release that got my approval was the Rainbow boxset. Do that but now with News Of The World. It's no secret that On Air was not a big seller. Why is that? |

'Brian confirms that you never played 'It's A Hard Life' live with Freddie, and decide to perform it at a 2010 charity event....' 'Brian also confirms that you never played 'Seven Seas of Rhye' in it's entirety until the same charity event....." etc...etc...etc.... !!! |

The BIG question Greg, is the most obvious. Why were the band NOT made into figures. I thught that would be the obvious move and certainly better than a crappy radio, mic stand and guitar. Love the Robot though! |
dysan 11.04.2017 12:03 |
I thought the robot one was Paul Rogers, my mistake. |

I still think I'm gonna prefer my own chance cards from the other thread....fleecing the audience is a weird goal for a band that hasn't put out a new record in 22 years Now if you could b different characters then the incentive is better. Gerry Stickells, Trip Khalaf, BRI, Fred, Rog, John... This way..whatever u do has a bearing on others performance |

"fleecing the audience is a weird goal for a band that hasn't put out a new record in 22 years " Yes, LOL, 100 percent to the point! That's there specialty in the last 22 years.......... |

Doing a Monopoly based on a band, and NOT have the band members be game pieces... Beats me. |

I can't imagine this selling much. I mean, first off you'd probably have to be fan of Queen to buy it, then secondly, you'd have to like board games, and monopoly in particular. |
