Hi my friends. I open this thread for discussing about what can be, or, if anybody has any info of what will be the Queen release for 2017 (apart of the Monopoly game and the Queen In 3-D book) My bet is for something from Live Killers (some years ago was a rumour about a LK box). What do you think? |
Jake12 29.03.2017 16:44 |
Just this past year Greg said that they're working on a Live Killers box! But who knows if it will be this year or next. Funny I was thinking about that box set today! |
Michael Scapp 29.03.2017 21:32 |
Live Killers is the one piece missing from the classic Queen vinyl reissues |
Viper 30.03.2017 02:51 |
Apparentely Mr Bad Guy will be re-released. I believe we'll get a Queen product also. I find it difficult to release a Live Killers show.... It's time to release all the videos in blu ray! |
dysan 30.03.2017 03:27 |
Expanded Live Killers spread over 3 discs. The old 'fades' at the end of each old side perfectly hidden by the additional tracks to balance it correctly. Lovely. |
dysan 30.03.2017 03:30 |
That said, I'd be happy with a straight reissue, I love it too much in it's original form. Bonus material (in the form of a complete show from the original tapes including the discussed 'missing' tracks) would form additional discs. Bowie totally stunk up the 2005 remixes of David Live and Stage by inserting additional content and resequencing. |

Sadly I don't think we'll get it, but the Bob Harris US Tour footage, much of it on film, would make me salivate.......live footage, (perhaps even a full gig or two in there?), rehearsal footage, in depth one on one interviews, soundchecks, studio, on the road, backstage, parties.....it's all in there and we've tantalizingly had snippets so far but I'd LOVE to see that released. Could be done in several editions so that there are slimmed down ones and deluxe editions etc... |
rhapsody8 30.03.2017 04:34 |
40th anniversary of News Of The World tour. It would be great timing for release of Bob Harris footage... |
dysan 30.03.2017 05:05 |
Yeah, that would also be massively marketable in America too. |
dave76 30.03.2017 05:20 |
Sadly Greg said that they aren't planning to continue with the "40th anniversary" thing. They did that with Rainbow and Odeon but i seriously doubt we get a NOTW boxset this year although that is 40 years ago. Hopefully i'm wrong. Until we know more it will the Monopoly game, the tour and the 3D book which i will skip all together. |
earwig 30.03.2017 05:31 |
I'm still looking forward to the Brian solo box set as mentioned by him and Greg in a podcast a year or two ago. At the very least, I'd like to see his Brixton gig on SD blu-ray with a 5.1 mix and perhaps God (the dream is over) reinstated... The remastered video of Since You've Been Gone from this gig on YouTube looks amazing!! *fingers crossed* |

Two sides of me has this to say: Me: Don't get your hopes up Other me: I was hoping for Earls Court and/or Houston, but I'm cool with Live Killers. |

Live Killers box. CD re mastered in its original form. DVD of one of the filmed shows from the period, possibly Hammersmith, and sound track CD of the DVD. That way we get the original album, we get a DVD/Bluray and we get an uncut complete performance on CD. These could also be made available separately. cmsdrums post about the Bob Harris stuff. Yes this should have been released ages ago. Mid 70's classic period. At the time they made quite a point of telling everyone about it through the fanclub and on TOGWT. We've had so much from the 80's they should really re address the balance and maybe listen to what fans are saying. . . But this is Queen productions we're talking about! |
MercurialFreddie 30.03.2017 11:52 |
Well, a nice concert from The Works tour should be released with great detail paid to the mixing of these god-awful electronic drums...although they made them sound quite nicely for the Singles Collection box set - double side to A Winter's Tale! (Rock in Rio blues). If they would release whole show from the Australia 1985 tour then it would be really something, totally not seen and heard before concert released for the first time. Fort Worth on the other hand....... one can dream... |

If that WERE to be released, we all know they'd compile it into a short 20 minute teaser. |

What QPL need to do is release something unique, such as the Bob Harris footage. I'm sure not too many bands had a professional documentary crew only a couple of years after their initial creation, especially on film! Also, does anyone know when the footage was originally planned to be released? -Chin |

Just smoking good. And Brian really was a good singer then. |
dysan 31.03.2017 01:54 |
I'm not a fan of that tbh. In '93 I was puttin' on my bovver boots and getting suited up to take this sort of stuff on in the first pushes of the Britpop Wars. |

Well, I must say that I look forward to the 3D book and Monopoly. The book is very interesting since it's from Brian's hand. And those 3D pictures... Can imagine there are some fabulous shots in there. Also looking forward to playing Monopoly with my friends and then bore them to death with all the knowledge I have concerning Queen shows. That said, having a release with ACTUAL MUSICAL CONTENT is what I'm looking forward to most and sadly I feel pessimistic about that. 1977 was an essential Queen year and there's tons of stuff but... Apparently they don't feel like releasing it :-( |

I'm hopping for a concert or two from that era. |

I'm sorry, but I just don't buy the sound quality / loads of edits argument. It is a brilliant live album. I'd say unsurpassed by any other comparable band. |

The Real Wizard, re: >link > >Holy shit, this is good. > >I'd forgotten what a great band that was. Just smoking >good. And Brian really was a good singer then. What a wonderful night that was - we were right in front of Jamie and you could see that he was really getting off on it all, let alone how tight the band were and how incredible Brian's tone was. I seem to recall that Brian was talking about following up BTTL with a blues-inspired album which would have been great to hear. It'll never happen again. .......what he ended up doing to Hammer To Fall in '98 is a complete travesty. |
on my way up 31.03.2017 03:44 |
I'm very much a "Queen"-man, the 4 of them as Queen and much less so a fan of their solo careers. While I'd enjoy Brixton, I'm not especially hoping for it to happen. I'd prefer Rio '85 first night complete over Brixton for example. Please bring on essential Queen stuff. |

dudeofqueen wrote: .......what he ended up doing to Hammer To Fall in '98 is a complete travesty.I actually quite liked that. It was refreshing to hear a different take on the song. Many people who saw the shows recall the anticipation during the song, and at the end when he finally did the main riff, it was the best moment of the show. |

It has three sides of great music, although the 4th side is bloated and indulgent. Haven't listened to it in decades. 2018 is the 20th anniversary of the recorded (visuals and music) but never released Brian May concert at the Royal Albert Hall. I had tickets for seats close to the front but was then told the seats had been removed because the show was being filmed and the band wanted a standing audience because it was more visually appealing. So I had to stand like all the other dupes! Good show though. Maybe it will finally see the light of day. |

Just searched out Hammer To Fall '98. Not the sort of thing usually on my radar. I didn't mind it. Would clean up on a Christmas advert for Marks N Sparks. |

Live Killers captures the raw energy that the band produced which was often lost, to some degree, on studio recordings. At the time I remember friends who hadn't seen them commenting on how tight and powerful the album sounded. Yes it didn't seem to gain much favour with the band, but the perceived rough edges, to me add to the expereance. Listening to it today in the car I could almost feel the heat coming off Brian's AC30's valves! |
dysan 31.03.2017 09:54 |
It just rocks. It's also ridiculous. It kept me company for a long time when I was little. The fast WWRY still blows people's minds whole aren't sold on Queen. |

... When On Air came out, I saw FB friends whole I would consider being very musical but not Queen fans sharing the video and other pals going MIND BLOWN. Stupid proggers. |

The fast WWRY still blows people's minds whole aren't sold on Queen. For me, it's the best live version of the song. I knew heavy metalers at school who laughed at me when I said I liked Queen but who nevertheless loved the Livekillers version of WWRY. In fact, despite all the bootlegs, I prefer the livekillers versions of the following songs to any other live version: Death on Two Legs, You're My Best Friend, Now I'm Here, Dreamer's Ball, Love of My Life, 39, Keep Yourself Alive, Don't Stop Me Now, Spread Your Wings & Brighton Rock. (maybe it's the overdubs!) If they re-released it and added It's Late, If You Can't Beat Them and Somebody to Love it would be a perfect live album. |

I love looking at stereoscopic pictures even on Google, or watch short stereoscopic videos on Youtube. You don't need any device. Only your eyes. I'm not entirely happy because PR and AL pictures are included. I would expect this book to be only Queen, but Brian said it's only few pages so I can live with that. |
Vocal harmony 03.04.2017 10:19 |
The book, I'd imagine is as close as we are ever going to get to an autobiography from Brian. Having got, and enjoyed, the in depth Red Special book I'm looking forward to looking at and reading Brian's view of the band. if the photos ended with the tribute concert, or before it, it would feel a little unfinished as we are all aware that Brian continued taking photos. Including the PR tours and the current line up brings the book up to date as it is a photographic documentary of his involvement as a member of the band. |
