No big surprises and kind of like Roger's Fun On Earth more of a compilation of the last few years. 5/13 are the collected post Anthems singles - Roll With You/Amazing Grace/One Voice/Born Free/The Kissing Me Song 1/13 - From the recent Air Guitar Album: Parisienne Walkways 3/13 - Studio versions of songs from the acoustic shows: I (Who Have Nothing)/If I Loved You/Can't Help Falling In Love SO that leaves us with 4 "new" tracks...kind of. Golden Days is obviously the Minako Honda track Brian wrote and produced a while back - he mentioned in on his twitter/soapbox at one point - so again no surprise. That leaves the only possible new tracks as: Love In A Rainbow/It's Gonna Be All Right (The Panic Attack Song)/Story of A Heart. 2 of the "new" tracks look to be actually new as I don't see songs entitled Love in a Rainbow or The Panic Attack Song. Story of a Heart MAY be the Benny Anderson (ABBA tracks) All in all - could still be good, but it does show how much Brian has slowed down over the years... |

Good to see the doc's still busy - but it doesn't look like he's writing too many songs anymore. These are largely covers, no? |
soxtalon 03.03.2017 03:14 |
Seems like it. 5-10 and 13 are all out and out covers. 3 is a cover of a Brian song. 2 and 11 are previously released singles (as are covers 5, 6, and 8) leaving tracks 1,4, and 12 (which may be a cover). It does look like tracks 1 and 4 will be unheard and original at least. 12 possibly. |

AND as the press release has shown up I can confirm that Story of a Heart is the Benny Andersson track but Love in a Rainbow is a May/Ellis piece while the Panic Attack track is solely a May composition. |

And it has the most cringeworthy song of all time five tracks in. Thank God for track skipping on CDs although I'd have preferred it if they'd stuck it on the end then I wouldn't have to get up halfway through the album to skip it it. |

Ah man that has got to be the most cringeworthy sleeve ever, a picture of the 66 World Cup winners would have been nice. Big brian fan but come on man.... |

Not sure why but not so exciting news for me, maybe sick of the whole kerry ellis obsession, I will definitely give it a listen but damn I wish he would do a solo album or spend some time on old queen not released material, wishful thinking.......LOL |
AlexRocks 03.03.2017 19:32 |
How could you be sick of the Kerry Ellis "obsession" when there has only been one studio l.p. from over half a decade ago?! Seriously?! |

Brian had good taste & artistic sense once. What happened? Perhaps Freddie & his graphic design sensibility helped keep the group on track in terms of visual presentation, back in the day. Still, I guess Queen had one or two cringeworthy album covers in their time too (The Miracle). None of that accounts for the exceptionally cheesy choices of cover songs... I'm eager to hear any new writing from him, anyway. |

That may quite possibly be one of the worst, most amateurish album covers in history. Mind bogglingly horrible. |

Cover looks like it was made in Microsoft Word '97 using Word Art. |

Cover art doesn't matter in the same way it used to when vinyl was king. That may explain why recent releases haven't had the same care taken over them as in the past. It's hardly an excuse though for the dreadful Hammersmith cover art. I don't mind the cover art for this Brian & Kerry album. It reminds me a bit of ELO's Eldorado (which was of course inspired by the Wizard of Oz). It's a bit naff maybe, but not as bad as some say. There's only so many ways you can tart up/present a man in his 60s: maybe though the Johnny Cash approach would've been better ('Brian in Black') :) And while I won't be buying it, the art at least isn't as bad as the Cosmos Rocks. |

Wow, a lot of negativity. Bless Brian for still trying something new in stead of repeating the good old greatest hits. I'll give it a listen. Never cared much for album covers. I liked the News of the world artwork. |

I'm in the minority as one who loves the AKOM artwork. only one that's really lacking is The Miracle, .... is IS an eyesore. especially the back. pretty disastrous looking track list reverse artwork. the front is still iconic. ... but a bit gnarly. not as bad as TCR (*crap artwork) and the atrocious Hammersmith artwork. ... contrary directions, horrible colors, shite arrangement |

From queenfan perspective this thread started when on the Dvd's QP started with only Freddie on the cover, which is these days more rule than exception. Queen is 4 persons right?! Seen the latest project of Brian May- Queen 3D is only one person: Freddie. Only exception is the Rainbow DVD, but the idea using purple and yellow and was copied of the orginal poster layout. |

Queenman!! wrote: Queen is 4 persons right?! Seen the latest project of Brian May- Queen 3D is only one person: Freddie.Queen aren't a band - they're a brand. And the brand is Freddie. But QPL are not really to blame. Since long before they adapted this as their official business plan, Queen has been Freddie in the minds of the majority of the public. QPL just eventually clued in. |
