People, get your asses over to Dime, cause somebody just posted an uncirculated master from Detroit 11-18 or 1977! |

Poster doesn't know if it's from the 18th or 19th of November 1977. Sure Bob can shed some light on that one |

What is dime? Thanks for the link xx |

EDIT: Going off Freddie's comments after 'My Melancholy Blues', this is 99% for sure the 2nd night. November 19 :) |

Wow this is fantastic, Gregsynth will love this! :D Here's the link to the page BTW: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=585781 -Chin |

So my pal clearly saw the first night. I've edited my Detroit entries as such. Needless to say, this is ridiculously exciting. This is what Christmas morning as a kid feels like ! This is the first time in well over a decade that a new NOTW tour show has popped up. Many of us have been hoping for new 1977 versions of It's Late and Spread Your Wings since some QZ users were in diapers. This is a very good day. |

This is a great recording too; no disrepect to the uploader but am I hearing quite a bit of digi noise on the transfer (apologies I've only just downloaded and have only heard the beginning of It's Late in headphones)? If true, it's a shame as the original recording is so clear. |

The seeder said he'll check with the guy who gave him the recording on CDR. It gets even clearer by Liar ! |

Nice one thanks, it would be great to obtain the best possible transfer of this 'out of the blue' gem. Freddie is his usual stratospheric self, as per the era! |

The torrent no longer seems to be active at dime, has it been pulled? |

If it helps at all, I refreshed the page (that I was already on) and it is still allowing me to save the torrent file. |

The Kurgan wrote: The guy pm'd me at TTD. He said his friend may have used some noise reduction but other than that it is a straight transfer to CD.ha ! It's not a straight transfer if it went through noise reduction. It's actually one of the worst cases of careless digital processing I've ever heard. At the end of Keep Yourself Alive you can hear the worst of it, just for a second - what's supposed to be a bit of analog tape hiss is a whirlpool of digital noise. Listen with headphones. And it's tragic, because this is one of the greatest Queen tapes ever. If anyone can get this guy to obtain the raw transfer from owner of the tape, plenty of us would be eternally grateful. |

I merely relayed exactly what the guy said in the PM, you can draw your own conclusions as to how his friend introduced the noise reduction. Anyone care to put this up on youtube? I recall friends going to that show, while I went to Mt. Pleasant to see CMU finish a 10-1 season by beating Western Michigan. Oh, well.... |

I think it is on YouTube if you search for it. |

Good luck ! It seems the raw wav file was not saved and there is next to no hope of retrieving the master tape, if indeed it still actually exists. So lets's just raise a glass to Gary, Al and Ron and thank them for bringing this bit of history to the masses. Cheers lads. |

The guy who transferred it is probably half deaf and thought he was somehow improving it. It's great to have the tape, as it's one of the best Queen tapes we'll ever hear - but it's sad and frustrating that we know it could be twice as good. |

on my way up wrote: Don't get me wrong: I'm over the moon with this tape. It wouldn't be the first time someone threw the crumbs and played the #oops card. In all my years of collecting I've never heard of both a master and a raw transfer disappearing at once, although I guess there can be a first for anything. But my instincts say something stinks here. That said, it still beats a guy like Freezer saying he'd rather burn his masters because he thinks people feel a sense of entitlement to his collection. Compared to that, ignorance definitely is bliss. So I should probably stop going on about this and finish on a diplomatic note, and pretend like I haven't been around the block and instead just be grateful for anything that floats down to us. None of us reading this bothered to taped the show, after all.. |

Barry Durex wrote: Another conspiracy theory. Perhaps you just bit the hand that fed you.Pfft. Are you trying to suggest that nobody has ever purposely let out an inferior copy of a tape? Or that you are now holding something back because someone wrote a post on a forum that burst your bubble? Tape collecting is a funny hobby and it makes people do funny things. Like I said, these guys may well have made an innocent mistake. But if that isn't the case here, it wouldn't the first time, and it won't be the last. It's not a conspiracy theory if it has happened - even on this very forum, plenty of times. |
Barry Durex 05.03.2017 17:12 |
Yes it has happened, but I wouldn't go pointing fingers based on that. You should be aware of more facts first. I wouldn't go slating somebody for their handy work either, no help at all in this case. |
The Real Wizard 05.03.2017 17:27 |
Of course you're right. Either way, we're probably not going to get any more of an explanation than we've gotten, so we should just enjoy it for what it is. |
