Hi everybody,
I was driving a little over two hours today and was switching radio channels all the time to hear some decent music.
And in that time they were playing 4 Queen songs. That struck me as on some days you won't hear them at all.
Those songs were:
I want to break free
We are the Champions
Another one bites the Dust
I want it all
Did you have similar experiences? What was the most amount of Queen Songs you've heard?
Greetings from Germany
For me they played 5 Queen Songs on a station called "The River" here in Illinois it was Keep Yourself Alive, We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions, You're My Best Friend and ended with Boh Rhap.
Metro Radio in Newcastle played a Queen greatest hits medley/mix basically everything on Greatest Hits1 late one night a couple of years ago.
The same DJ claims to be matey with Brian May and about a year ago said that when Queen played St James' park they "popped into Metro Radio and recorded this". . . . . He then played Spread Your Wings ( the 77 BBC session) what a fucking idiot!
Oh God, you scared me!
I thought this was another announcement for a compilation album culled from the recent QUEEN: ON AIR collection.
A greatest hits of Queen on the BBC, to be released in 4 different colored vinyl lps. (each with the same content; 5 if you count the regular standard vinyl)
Next up.
QUEEN: ON FILM
Sorry Matt,
I was well aware of the confusion it may cause *g*
And at this very moment some smart ass in QP jumps to the phone and calls Mr. Beach with a "very good idea" haha
I 've made similar experiences with german radio Stations. Nowadays it's all about "rotation". The mainstream stations have Queen "On Air", but sometimes they cut them short just to bring them back a couple of month later. So the stupid DJ can say "
"Wow, haven't heard that track for a while" :)
They do the same thing with other artists like Genesis and the like.
In general, the Youth Station don't play Queen at all...
Rock Stations have Queen in Rotation...but that's obvious I guess.

To be fair to the flashing blade, i've heard him interview Brian a couple of times. I also met him a couple of times, most notably at Marsden Grotto on a halloween special. Sorry to everyone who has no fecking idea who or what we on about.

"The River" (a Chicago suburban radio station) also semi-regularly plays Killer Queen, Somebody to Love, Another One Bites the Dust and Under Pressure.

The flashing blade! Haha!!
Can anyone remember that show he used to do on Tyne Tees, I think on a Friday night called 'Robson's People'?
The theme music was somebody basically playing the guitar solo from Gimme The Prize. Wonder if Bri gave him the rights, them two being 'good mates'.

It wasn't the flashing blade was it?
It was, yes..
His program is quite entertaining, sometimes, and he does some great charity stuff which is really good. But he does have a habit of "proving" his stature with the occasional stupid claim. Queen popping in to record Spread Your Wings is a great example. I doubt Metro radio has a room or an engineer that could produce that kind of sound.
Also what crap would he have been in if the BBC or QP had been aware of his claims
