So? It was a fair enough recension IMO. I don't necessarily agree with it, but it's witty and one can definitely argue that both Freddie and Brian are definitely not as good musically live, as in the studio.

Hilarious.
But it goes on to say how he's actually done some pretty good things.
Thanks for posting these.
Starting to see a trend? Most newspapers didn't send journalists who liked rock music to concerts. Most of them had no idea what they were talking about. All of the great bands got slagged 90% of the time.
The Ottawa review has nice moments, but then it calls Brian May "functional". I guess this is what happens when Eddie van Halen burst onto the scene earlier that year. Suddenly the older rock guys weren't as exciting anymore, because faster became better.
And from the Jazz tour, here's one from Seattle 12-12-78.
It makes you wonder if the Lakeland reviewer showed up late and only hung around for about 45 minutes. At least this writer seems to have seen the whole show.
Outstanding - thanks ! Good to know they played Liar on this night. It was on rotation by this point.
Here's another pic from Hamburg 78, maybe the same photographer?
And dare I ask - any chance you could translate this for us !?
I'm most curious about the part where Hendrix and Page are mentioned.
I'll put it on my "to-do-list"
In general the writer is pleased with Brian's playing and mentioned that he didn't noticed a guitar player since Hendrix and Page who's having that range from soft to hard and all the little things we ( Queen fans) all know.
The writer also labeled him as one of the greatest guitar player in Rock.
About the photographer...you have PM
